Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

There are still many talented people here

Maybe I'm overly disappointed in this place and it's hard for me to see anything good here anymore. Honestly, if I had the skills that some who are still here have, I would've left this company a long time ago. How do you explain the fact that there are still so many very determined and talented employees here?

There are many "talented" people in every company everywhere, there is nothing special here.

Saying "talented" is just like saying "they have so much potential". It means nothing.

Who cares how many degrees or how much education someone has, if they can't/won't learn their job and be productive, potential and/or talent means nothing.

It's the effort to master the job and learn the business that really counts and that is what is lacking, not only here but throughout all the U.S. workforce lately.

So many graduates in the last 20 or 25 years have been told all through their schooling how smart they are but when they enter the workforce they are unproductive and unable to grasp the even the basics or perform at even the novice level.

It's not just here, it's everywhere, the highly educated but completely unable.

Many talented folks at T, the fear of moving on is what keeps people here. So much talent that other companies covet. If , for just a minute, they could see the opportunities that exist for them outside, they would move on. T is a great company for new , short term employees but the prospect of finishing a lengthy career here is gone. No hate, but don't be surprised when you have the highest rating and ranking and your impacted by repositioning...fact.

OP, you may want to ask your question again after Nov 30th, when the new IRS pension segment rates kick in.

It's called uninspired, unmotivated, lazy complacency and a familiar comfort zone that keeps talented people from moving on from T. They're not as smart as you think, they just think they are or at least, you think they are!

Talented people are standing with AT&T because AT&T stands with us. Just like how they provide a generous 2022 Success Bonus and reasonable work-from-home flexibility… oops… hold on… getting an email… let’s see… scratch what I said above… looks like NO 2022 BONUS and WFH is CANCELED. Let me see if Amazon is still hiring…
