This is age discrimination

Plain and simple.

Stop pointing fingers. If it was age then Jim Farley and Kumar would be one of the 1st ones to go…

Those who say they "know" what the age distribution is, really don't know and cannot. I was let go Monday as part of this cutback. I was given a paper, required by law apparently, that showed the age distributions of all the people in the affected team at my salary grade (GS8 SW Engr) and who was let go. There were only 5 people total on that chart and the two oldest were let go. I can suspect this was age discrimination but with such a small sample size, you can't really draw a solid conclusion. Others laid off would have gotten a similar paper with small sample size. Some of you may be repeating office gossip about who was let go but that also might not be accurate enough to draw meaningful conclusions. Will I sign the SSIP Package? Probably, I need the severance and 3 months of health ins so they have me by the oo B$lls. Can't wait years on a lawsuit that might not even get me anything.

I hope you have some customers to buy the cars, it won't be any of us.

Watch for the younger, recently hired/now fired, who are being released, but may show back up on payroll in several months. Not an unheard tactic to avoid age discrimination when the intent is to release/unload the older employees who carry legacy expenses for the company.

Don’t sign anything. See an employment lawyer first.
Team up with other coworkers that were terminated.

There’s strength in numbers!

Stay strong!

It’s hard to prove age discrimination especially when they include some younger people to cover their backsides. There are laws (at least there use to be) to prevent companies from firing people to prevent them from getting their pension or full pension. Hopefully some of the people who were let go just weeks short of their 30 year milestone will talk with an employment lawyer before signing anything. It’s worth having a consultation.

Been all over the place from what I've seen. Some with pensions were impacted but also saw some FCGs let go today.

Time for a class action law suit for age discrimination. They settled before. Take your time and get good representation. Maybe try the same attorneys? Heck, file multiple cases by multiple groups!

There will be younger, mid range, and older employees affected. Unfortunately the others are collateral damage to get the older employees out.

Ford doesn’t care about the discrimination laws. They just do it and get everyone to sign away their rights to file a lawsuit via the waiver in return for the 6-9 month settlement. If anyone declines the waiver and files suit, Ford will drag it out for years and then finally settle while not admitting guilt. Rinse and repeat.

Surplus younger folks were kept on hand so they could be fired (along with the older, expensive folks) and age discrimination lawsuits can be avoided. The mix of ages in every department is very carefully calculated before any dismissals.

If you don’t have a pension, why did you loaf around here. You could have moved on long time above.

Probably more like salary and Y/N on pension, which happens to often correlate with age.

Not necessarily, myself and many other professionals in their 20’s and 30’s were also impacted. It doesn’t seem as if a certain age group was targeted.
