Thread regarding MetLife Inc. layoffs

I try not to worry ahead of time

I got discouraged while looking for a new job but the fault is my own for staying here too long.
I would love to find something new as soon as possible, because I have a very bad feeling that things are going to get even uglier here.
Although I try not to worry too much in advance, I keep thinking about whether the cuts are around the corner?

@mci+1il3xezN yep and that LTL stat was a load of cr-p. Notice it was just one stat for the entire company. If 80% of those promotions happened in EMEA, that means the rest of us are suckers thinking promotions will ever happen Stateside.

The layoffs are and have been underway. It's being done very discreetly and on an individual basis to avoid any negative publicity. You wouldn't notice it unless it's a person you've worked with that is suddenly gone. It's also being positioned as certain people finding opportunities outside. This goes on year-round, every year. Nothing new.

@mci+1il3xezN At the top level, hiring is about LOYALTY to the CEO.

Also, it's about showing improvement in the annual distribution statistics.

She's a two-fer.

I keep wondering whether the new Merger and Acquisition lady also does Dispositions.

Speaking of new M&A lady, did Michel not tell us just last week that some huge percentage of higher level jobs came from promotions from within?
