I am very anxious and I think that a layoff would be a terrible thing for me now, but I am comforted by those who are very confident that they will find something better very quickly.
It seems to me that most people here are not very worried about layoffs and even might consider them as some kind of relief?

DXC does not care one iota about you and you should reciprocate the feeling
I do reciprocate the indifference, disrespect and inequity. I work as little as possible and supplement my meager salary by learning new marketable skills during billable hours. There is no future in any job; the future is in the one that holds the job.
You will likely regret ‘waiting’ as if in some strange way DXC will manage to pay off its debt and suddenly be able to find a way of growing the company for the first time in its 5 year history. It is easier to find work whilst you are in work as you don’t have the added anxiety or pressure of knowing you have to pay the bills without a job. The risks of WFR are too high at DXC and that makes for a very unpleasant working atmosphere. People turn on each other and even on this forum you will see people venting worry, only to have others call them lazy and suggest that the company needs to get rid of negative people so that the positive ones can help the company grow. However, given the span, scale and constant WFR’s it would be very hard not to lose motivation and belief. Allowing yourself to keep suffering through that will just affect your mental health. There is no harm in actually engaging with recruitment agents and writing a short 2 page CV of you skills (using current skills relative to EACH job you apply for i.e you may need to tailor your base CV to match EACH job so that it ticks off every requirement on the job description. Yes, it takes work and I know how hard even that can be when you think you are relatively safe, but better to do it now whilst you have a job as you could end up in a panic and writing for anything when you are out of one.
Never stop looking for the next job. Ever
best advice you can be given, employment in the 2020's and beyond is always going to be tenuous and not just at DXC, so always have an up to date resume/CV, try to ensure your skills remain relevant and keep an eye out for the jobs market

Take your power back. Never stop looking for the next job. Ever.
I'm half hoping, I'd like the redundancy pay and hopefully then find a better job elsewhere fairly quickly.
Longer term, probably wait another 6 months to a year max, then will likely start applying for new jobs and just take the higher pay.
