Thread regarding Seagate Technology Inc. layoffs

They do nothing to prevent layoffs

It is hard not to notice that everything here becomes a reason for layoffs. Even the smallest "turbulence" results in laying off some employees. It is simply terrible to work in such a company where the leadership does not think at all about the negative consequences of layoffs for the company, which could perhaps have been prevented. However, I don't think they even think about preventing cuts. It seems like it's something that's become very natural to them?

This is the what Harvest really means in the latest slogan of " Harvest, Win, Grow". I am starting to suspect the Grow means to grow the gross margin of the Disc drive products. They need to get the disk over head costs, cost of support functions, as low as they can. Sounds like Hammer drives will have a very high cost in the materials in them. One has to wonder how much the market will really pay for them. How much of a cost margin will the company experience once the product is accepted by the market??

Is JM still the VP of Business Excellence? Wow, that's some staying power.

Well yeah. Layoffs are a tool that isn't seen as 'broken' so why would they fix it?

They don’t see you as a human being, but only a number on the cost ledger. Your past contributions mean nothing to them. Your family means nothing to them. Your diversity attributes mean nothing to them. Only how you can have some future use to get the goals done is all they care about. That should be clear by now. Prepare and act accordingly.

This company has a big problem on their hands when they blow smoke at new grads about the wonderful future they would have at Seagate when any long term employee knows they layoff for any reason, any time. This week I could tell a few recent hires were bewildered by the layoffs and I have no doubt they are already seeking employment elsewhere. Where is the VP on Business Excellence on all this?
