Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Grass is greener!

I have finally left AT&T after almost a decade on the wireline engineering side and let me just tell you the grass is extremely green on the other side. I am not going to say what state or area I worked in but the amount of BS I put up with and the amount of unethical nonsense I watched over the last decade was disgusting. From being told to lie about your time or what you worked on, to an AM that tells you other people's private business during 1 on 1's and would brag about planting gossip to see who talks to who talks to who and then openly complain about how there was too much gossip in the workplace.... All that on top of the companies ridiculous policies and "job accommodations" and now a punch clock time system...I feel like Eminem working in the factory on the other side of 8 mile. Stuck it out for the paycheck because I believed the lies that I couldn't get paid as well to go somewhere else. Don't fall for that... Plenty of jobs out there right now paying MORE and better benefits than I received as management with AT&T. Tidy up your resume, fill out as many apps as you can, and when you get an interview don't talk about your past accomplishments, talk about what value you can add to their team. Best of luck!

You are absolutely right. They have zero care for the customer or doing what's right. It is all about the metrics and money each area/district is building. Bad business model when all you care about is spending money to build build build and not focusing anything on customer service/retention. Doubt they are seeing the rate or return they want which as usual will result in another surplus season.

Cool! I left AT&T 2 decades ago, and I agree with you the grass in greener on the other side. The culture of AT&T is bad, and top management is bad. They don't listen to their employees who have great suggestions when it comes to quality improvement.
They don't care about their employees or their customers, but they are the only game in town when it comes to telephony. What happened to the Gov $ for major fiber infrastructure improvements that were supposed to happen long ago?
