Thread regarding Norfolk Southern Corp. layoffs

Greener pastures

I doubt that anyone is doing much worse after leaving NS. I am not satisfied with compensation and that is the main reason why I am looking for new opportunities.
Aren't the percentages of pay increases for those who left surprising? I know a person who got a 40 percent higher pay after leaving this place.

I was furloughed a little while back, got a job right away because I didn't feel like dealing with RR unemployment. Honestly I struggled with that job because of pay and benefits. However I kept looking and landed a better paying job than the RR. The retirement plan is good and the insurance is reasonable. But I will admit the RR insurance is hard to beat compared to what I see most of my family and friends have. Honestly I think in today's work environment as long as a person is willing to take a job that pays the bills that will allow you to keep looking and land that better job. Don't be afraid to do something out of your normal wheelhouse, a willingness to learn and work in today's world will pay off.

Its fine to be just a number, its fine to be replaceable...its a corporate entity after all. I draw the line at being treated like garbage though and NS is as bad as it gets.

You cannot put a price on happiness. I left and found the best job I've ever had in my life and only make $2 an hr less

Pretty sure after the horrible contract and low back pay we get most are gonna jump ship to access there 401k and most of them have jobs ready to go. P.E.B and the carrier are just stalling. Toxic work environment. Not worth it anymore. You are just a number and you are replaceable.
