Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Is this true?

20% reduction in the sales centers. People will start being notified this week.

I still hope that it is not true, although I have heard this rumor from several people.

"...job security language..." LOL

You must be management. Read some of the Distirct 4/MW language. Know a member who has been surplused 7 times and always placed in a new job.

" Best advice. Your local unions have little if any say on regional changes."

100%. Those of you that seem to believe your Union is consulted and somehow involved in decision making around headcount are delusional.

The watermark is the same and there are right at 900 NTS’s now. We are part of the hiring freeze but obviously don’t know and won’t be told about any layoffs ahead of the time for the next surplus announcement date of 9/15.

I’m legacy T OOR NTS ( network specialist tech) and we had a watermark of 600 that had to be maintained for the title throughout the life of our last agreement which just expired in April. I do know the same language exists in the new contract but uncertain what the actual numbers are although they’re probably the same as the new contract was basically an extension of the previous one. I’m uncertain if our numbers exceed that watermark at present If any announcement is made it won’t be until the middle of September

To the OP, unlikely. What is and has always happened will be consistent layoffs and "repositioning" until T reaches a sustainable employee population...it is unfortunately far from it today.

Job offer guarantee seems to be worth something to me. You're mad at the union for the death of landlines? Sober up. ?

"thank them for the job security language in our contract."

Union doesnt do anything! Why are we losing so many members from retail to core? Contracting is out of control and the union is worthless when it comes to this. So your job security language is worth as much as the paper is was written on.

"Best advice. Your local unions have little if any say on regional changes. The parent company, or the National unions for CWA and IBEW, pave the way for these reductions. Hold your National unions accountable."

Tell us you're management without telling us you're management. I'll reach out to my union and thank them for the job security language in our contract.

They need to get ride of that IHX program. It's a waste of money and turn over rate is insane

Consumer wont come until second quarter of 2023.

No plans for retail.

Core technicians will start getting offers in the in all the regions. AT&T had planned for a steady reduction in landline services but inflation created an unexpected influx of disconnects. The loss in revenue is out-weighing new revenue streams from fiber. AT&T leadership greatly missed the conversion targets of Uverse TV disconnects to DTV Stream. This is also battered revenue targets.

Contracting will pave the way forward to 5G fixed wireless rolling out soon in select markets. This will enable us to greatly reduce core technicians.

Best advice. Your local unions have little if any say on regional changes. The parent company, or the National unions for CWA and IBEW, pave the way for these reductions. Hold your National unions accountable.

They aren’t going to tell anyone until the last possible minute. They never do.

Stankey wants employees to stand around a camp fire, eat smores, join hands, and sing kumbaya.
