I’m hearing a large layoff for managers in wireline. All areas will be hit

What organization is "wireline"? Sounds like old, outdated products

I dont believe anyone "cheers" for layoffs, it's mostly a nervous laugh. Fact is, the business and its margins are shrinking at a rate that will not support the headcount. We struggle to find money to pay for mobility spectrum. Mobility , both consumer and business can be run by indirect resources at 1/3 the overall cost. Wireline, security and professional services have such a small margin, they are largely loss leaders and we are nowhere near the top right quadrant. No one on leadership will say it, but apply the same basic principles to your family budget and money management and ask how long you would last. The AT&T annuity cash flow is getting crushed....buckle up folks.

Is this where I gripe that I got forced to leave with no severance? Force them out don't pay them or else send me a check for my 31yrs too

If what the OP is saying has any modicum of truth it’s highly doubtful he or she would reveal their source for obvious reasons. It’s also entirely possible It’s just gaslighting

why anybody would risk their business using att products is beyond me.

so many other good choices out there that are much more reliable and capable.

“ Why are people cheering layoffs? People have lives and careers and generally just want to work and support their families. Having been through it many times, it sucks for everyone involved.”

Most managers treat their subordinates like cr-p. I had one that used horrific language daily and was protected by the next 2 levels of management. We were told to stay and deal with it or leave. Tell me again why I should care about their needs and their attempts to care for their families. Hopefully they end up in a tu-d bowl with nothing to show for a lifetime of trying to make things better for their family. Karma’s a B*&$@.

Most wireline managers have no knowledge of the infrastructure anyway. Just a drain on money better spent elsewhere.
