Intel management thinks the tides have changed and are pushing hard for back to the office, you should expect this to be required soon. Lets see the result, many remote jobs from companies with the times and not failing in such a dramatic public showing. Your managers MDF should reflect if they are pushing back to office. Zero them out in the MDF.

The WFH troll is relentless, wondering just what kind of “engineer” they is? Guessing nothing but an oxygen consumer who can’t make it anywhere else than the formerly great company know as intel.

@1hcl+1iSzr2xf - this is the typical management ramblings. So, its okay to work late evenings and early morning from home that is no problem right Intel?? But you want people in during the day as well, to he-l with work life balance as you proclaim. Hypocrisy at its best. Intel you screwed employees in 2016 and no one believes anything you say anymore. You have nothing but transactional employees and many just don't give a sh-t if you succeed or fail they will find another job at that point in time. Your management will never get it, you haven't before and wont in the future.

  1. You are assuming that, being in office contributes to a teams, "Well being," whatever that is.
  2. You are assuming, that a worker is responsible for their teams, "Well being," they aren't.
  3. You fail to understand how younger workers collaborate in the workplace. (hint, it isn't usually face to face. They text each other, even if they are in the next cubicle)
  4. You fail to understand that the upside of the, "Collaborative," aspect of being in office, will be offset by lower productivity.
  5. You fail to understand that some workers, although intelligent and hard working, loathe the social/office politics of being in office and it's not our job to be there to help others social lives.

"I get paid for my work product" and "judge me by my output". Do you contribute to the wellbeing of your teammates and long-term team objectives? The remarks sound flippant and selfish, so you might want to rephrase. I understand we are frustrated at managers who don't care about output as much as blindly following policy. But realistically, teams will continue falling apart if we isolate, and eventually companies. Then there won't be any work for us to do.

To 1syo+1iSzr2xf Well, unlike you, I believe in output management, rather than input management. In other words, one isn't rated on their physical location, how many keystrokes etc, but on the quality and quantity of work submitted. You sound like one of those dudes that likes to grease up his boss for promotions. I prefer to be rated on my work, as that's what I am paid for.

To @1syo+1iSzr2xf Have you been working from home, or just b**thurt because you can't??? I WFH, and I am at least as productive as when in the office, as are the rest of my group. The majority of studies show, that WFH is at least as productive as in the office.

Why do they have to mess with the cubicles then too? I do not want to work in a desk someone else just sat at leaving their garbage and germs all over. If I can’t get my own desk I’m not going back there, whatever that takes.

Management doesn’t care what you want.

Most executives are trend followers and if their country club peers are doing it, you better believe they’ll do it too.

Google, Apple etc… usually lead the trends.

In addition to my last post. If you want to continue working remotely, I recommend applying for fully remote on Circuit, EVEN if you will be denied. This shows management how many want this option. If few apply, mgmt will say, "We had a request process, but hardly anyone applied," to justify a return to the office.

Management has been sending signals that back to the office is in the cards. If those of us that can WFH stand firm and tell management, "NO!" there isn't much they can do. My manager said to apply for fully remote if I wanted, but that the requests were being denied and this comes form much higher than his level. I have a close friend that's a VP at a fortune 100 company as well. He felt that his people were doing fine working remotely and was OK with that continuing. His boss said that his people were to be back in office at least three days/week, so that's what he had to do (unhappily, as that applied to him as well). I don't think we can blame our direct managers for this, as it probably comes from much higher. YMMV.
