Thread regarding Seagate Technology Inc. layoffs

Seagate is sinking fast

Morale is destroyed. I doubt that this company will ever be able to attract the kind of talent it had. Now the only question is how far is Seagate from rock bottom.

What will this place look like after these layoffs?

Even worse, what will it look like in five years?

There is a general talk outside that this is a job with 9-5, and lazy people work here. You don’t expect miracles if that’s the kind of morale or attitude of employees

It’s going to get worse.

I disagree with many comments here but the comment below about slow computers struck a nerve with me. The slow laptops, computers, servers, MS Outlook/Office/Teams are all productivity sinks! If this is the best the company can do for me then I know the best that I can do for the company.

This is what happens when a fat and happy executive committee runs the company like a cash machine for so many years. They have raised the dividend over the last several years instead of putting a portion back into the company. They squeezed employees with raises and promotions (or lack of) and forget updating your equipment anytime soon, there is no capital budget. The six year laptop cycle was the pinnacle of ridiculous.

Morale is quite low here. HDD outlook does not look promising. Talent attracts talent. Unfortunately all the talent has left. How can Seagate innovate and stay competitive when there is no plan to replace senior positions. Executives don’t have a clue what’s coming.
