Any news about timing? October? Later?
I have heard this will be about a $ reduction and not headcount. What does that mean? If your org doesn't travel and doesn't buy capital equipment and any large quarterly expenses have already been deferred, then what else is there besides headcount?
In general, does HR finalize the list to ensure that the RIF list is not skewed towards one demographic or another? Are those who may have taken some kind of formal leave (FMLA, bereavement, paternity/maternity) excluded from a RIF to avoid the possibility of legal action?
I tried to contact someone in HR last week about a benefits question and they were in an "all team all day meeting". Maybe they have these periodically, but that sounds like it could be planning for the big RIF.
