A lot of people focus too much on larger companies when searching for a new job for whatever reason (for me, that was a higher probability of advancing my career due to more available positions) but smaller companies have plenty of advantages. In the two months since I left Avaya for a company with barely 500 employees, I've realized that my work-life balance has improved drastically and I enjoy going to work because the work atmosphere is much lighter and less toxic. I've also heard from people that I can truly count on annual bonuses, which is a huge plus. The only reason I accepted this job is that I was desperate to leave Avaya. It turned out to be ten times better than I expected.

Just be careful of smaller companies offering big salaries. Some are only doing it to get you in and drain your knowledge and then let you go. They don't intend on keeping you for a full year so the yearly salary doesn't mean anything to them. They treat it like a contract to hire. Do your research and ask lots of questions. Good luck and God speed.
