Thread regarding DXC Technology layoffs

The cons outweigh the pros

Only one thing still keeps me here, and that is that I can't get a better offer. I think that is the number one reason why most of us are still at DXC. Is there perhaps another reason to stay? I doubt it. On the other hand, there are too many reasons to leave.

@sail in the storm
No one becomes a Mikey henchman by just making the point that your career is your responsibility... that will be true regardless of where you work.
DXC has provied you the means to enhance your skills... take a look at DXC Unvervirsity for once... it is at par with anything that you will spend loads of money on otherwise. Choose your career path, do the trainings, you will actually get DXC branded certificates, which , believe it ot not, will be valued by the market. Then go for interviews with your newfound knowledge. You have to do hard work mate, and by that I don't mean just punishing the keyboard on layoff.com !!

Get on Microsoft Learn or AWS and get trained up in cloud technologies, or zero trust, or anything that is in demand. Honestly it's not rocket science. Then apply for a job somewhere they actually value skills relating to newer or emerging technologies

How they treat you is you they feel about you... period.
How we feel about them is how we treat them... period.
Work as little as possible. Doesn't matter.

1iD4b2fM - seem like another Mr Shouty's henchman - it's up to DXC to invest in their employees by supplying them with decent work tasks and employment, giving them decent wage and increasing this (at least every year), having a fair appraisal process and route to promotion , investing in their training / self development, having decent management direction (Not at all present in DXC), not overloading the actual people who do the work with so much work that their physical and eventually mental health suffers.

DXC is the worst IT Company in the world - Cesspool winner 2017 onwards.

I'm surprised to hear that you can't get a better offer.

If you have good skills, and a decent CV, practice your interview skills, and see what you can get.

Many folks who've left DXC are doing substantially better now they've left. Personally I left in 2020, and am now earning 35% more than I was at DXC - without the constant threat of WFR and without the delights of Mr Shouty screaming on conference calls.

Get out, you won't regret it.

Your professional development and keeping abreast with the latest in your field is primarily your responsibility. Many companies take employee development seriously, and spend money and resources on it, and so does DXC. DXC University is a pretty decent learning portal. If that is not good enough for you, then you need to spend some bucks with stuff like Udemy/Pluralsight/Udacity etc... as I said, it is your career and therefore your responsibility primarily.
So, if you find yourself in a situation where guys from Infy, Wipro etc will "have you for breakfast", you have mainly yourself to blame. DXC did not ask you to stop self development on your own.

The OP is truthful. Most dxc'ers have become email clerks. They are far removed from technology, let alone leading edge tech. People in wepro, Infosys, Tata will eat you guys alive for breakfast. Well when the crowd read this, there will be lots of negative votes - but they all know what is the truth.

The only reason I could think of staying with this POS company is to wait for my severance (unless you work in the U.S., sorry the payout isn't worth sticking around for).
In the meantime, I wouldn't be taking on any extra work since the company made it clear that they don't give a sh-t about us employees.
