Thread regarding Centene Corp. layoffs

I'd rather take a pay cut

If they insist that I return to the office, it will only remove any dilemmas I have about leaving this place and make me get out of here as soon as possible. I don't think there's any real need to go back.
I absolutely share the opinion of someone who wrote that he would rather agree to a pay cut than have to work from office. You?

Post ID: @aaap+1iCpkA9B "Putting in the time" is like saying you joined a meeting, sat there and allocated more work to your subordinates. Nothing sheltered about me. I was there over a decade and unfortunately witnessed it one too many times in my department. I worked hard, was an asset to the department and just kept getting more work dumped on me by these players. I decided to leave because there are only so many hours in a day and it was time for these folks to step up (which they did not).

Jumping in on that level Q comment. Sr Director is level Q as well. In some cases also Staff VP.

If you think people at those levels aren’t putting in the time, you’ve been overly sheltered inside your widget building bubble. And it shows.

When told I had to return to the office during a meeting, I gave my 2 weeks notice during same meeting. Had no problem finding other WFH employment at higher pay.

Whoever the "Level Q" is that commented about quitting if they have to go into the office, be careful what you wish for. If memory serves you are either a Sr Manager or lower level Director at that grade. Most at that level were fairly useless in the overall scheme of getting any actual work done that made a difference to the department. If our Director would have left nobody would have even noticed. You could be the exception, but by writing this you are influencing people that any time in the office is bad and you are magically going to find a similar job elsewhere. Don't count on it. Many companies are on a hybrid model right now. Or, back in the office full time.

As part of last year's layoff, I found a new job fairly quickly and was hired to work from home by another company. My department's employees are located in multiple States across the country so there are no logistics where we could come back into an office. They do not have physical offices in most of the States we live in. We are what they call permanent WFH. However, the folks living close to the actual offices all have had to come back in, some full time and some hybrid. Nobody quit their jobs because of this. Anyone on here whining about WFH vs an office location has definitely not been on a job hunt recently. The jobs are not paying any huge amounts, and there is always a possibility you might have to come into an office at some point unless your job is deemed a permanent WFH position.

Level Q here. Not going back in - will quit the moment they require even one day back in an office. Both my home life and work life have changed. Home life is far for stable. Work day is longer and busier, but more productive.

I work better from home. Don’t care for pot lucks or useless team meetings. I have a life outside of work .

Everyone in my small close-knit dept is disappointed with full time WFH. We miss being together in person. The hybrid plan would have been great. Also, we are disgusted that centene has pushed the cost of real estate to the employees. With all the $$millions of savings from closing so many offices, you'd think they could give us at least a tiny stipend. Oh, wait, it's money-grubbing centene, of course they won't pay us for THEIR use of our homes.

I don’t agree. Some of these posts (including this one) are so ridiculous. With an attitude like this, maybe you should look elsewhere. Best of luck in your future endeavors. The grass is not greener on the other side.
