Gelsinger also plans to continue focusing on the company's core competency: Logic chips. That means he will stay open to exiting more businesses, much like Intel recently decided to wind down its Optane business.

"Obviously, Optane. And man, I sort of joke that Intel exited the memory business 40 years ago, and they've just kept making that decision. Right? Well, I'm gonna close that frickin' door, and we're gonna stay out of the memory business and really get a cleanliness of our business strategy around logic," Gelsinger said. "You know, we have a few more that we'll likely exit as we continue to prune and get more focused."

Pat is a delusional religious fanatic, as such he doesn’t believe in natural laws or order.

Intel will do what it hasn’t done in the past 5 nodes in four years, forget the 10nm FUBAR, the fanatical can do it.

Forget they don’t have scale or technology they have government money so they can buy it all.

IDM = Intel Delusional Madness
IFS = Intel F U C K Service

Pat has zero ability to predict that Intel will regain market share in the future because he has no idea what the competition will do.

AMD, Broadcom, Nvidia, Qualcomm and TI are all larger than the “whale” Intel.

Notice how they are all fabless and all use TSMC?

See how ridiculous Intel has been to squander its leadership with such stupid decisions? These companies are coming for Intel’s markets and succeeding.

It’s not just AMD. Qualcomm will make a credible high perf ARM client (windows) and server CPU with their poached Apple team (nuvia) in the next year or so.

The trilllionaire Apple, Google and Microsoft folks are funding credible CPU designs with Apple being the most visible one.

The CPU design know-how is out there in the world outside of Intel’s gray cubicles. TSMC has leveled the playing field and now fabless shops can outcompete Intel with many former Intel superstars working at these shops.

Intel’s one time competitive advantage is long gone (fab tech dominance). This has been ceded to TSMC which has far superior economies of scale.

Intel is not a large whale.
Even Texas Instruments is bigger now.

This isn’t 1999
Intel is a has-been that is maybe 8 or 9th largest semi by market cap.

Demand will dry up due to inflation. Intel won't have the numbers for Q4 as well.

Intel will be the highlight of Nasdaq falling flat. The large whale that sank the index.
