I left a year ago and my life improved immensely. Jobs with normal company culture and good managers still exist. I still read this forum occasionally and I'm never surprised to see that things are getting worse instead of better. All of you can do so much better than that place.

I am working harder than I ever have in my life, it is challenging and frustrating with things outside of my direct control, supplier delays, not enough resources to meet customer dates, angry customers.
But I love it in spite of the mess it is, comradery, short lived successes, still learning new things after all these years, keeping the brain sharp, etc.
I'd work one more year, but IRS segment rates make that not financially prudent. Will leave in Nov, Commence lump sum in Dec.
It has been quite a ride, 60 day notices, downgrades and forced relos to keep a job, toxic boses, etc.
I'd do it all over again, however, hindsight being 20/20, not have let my ego and 4th and 5th levels' input drive certain decisions I have made.
Try and find the best in things and do the best you can do.

truth been to two places since I left and other companies are ran so much better it isn't even funny,
lots of jobs out there if you have the right skill set. get asked almost weekly if I am interested in moving.
don't owe att anything for improving my skill set did it all on my own. one thing att did for me is get me familiar with excel and powerpoint lol

You call us parasites, the company still calls us employees! It's the miserable, hardworking over achieving employees that haven't been able to advance their careers in T that call us parasites because they are no better off than the slackers. You're angry and miserable and haven't figured out what you're doing wrong! You don't advance your career in T unless you know somebody higher up or unless you come from a long line of family that was previously employed in T! Parasites, slackers, lazy employees, whatever, the bank account still gets funded every two weeks just like the hard worker's does!

Will continue to stay at ATT as long as the job is easy and the checks keep clearing! I know the BFS unit is growing and there is no chance of a severance package anytime soon, so I'll just continue to stay employed with T until I decide it's time to leave!
Waiting for a voluntary package and will wait as long as no work pressure. It's a very unhappy environment for those that still care about their job
Many are happy in the moment and thats fine but its purposeless grinding at a company that has incompetent leadership and is worse off than it was decades ago. ATT is on the decline.

People are waiting for either their severance package that they think they're entitled to or hanging on to keep funding that pension and 401K. That is the only reason I'm sticking around! We all know the outlook is grim for T and layoffs at this point are almost inevitable depending on your business unit. With little work, it's too easy to do the obvious!
Just drawing a paycheck. I have COL bills but no debt. Just patiently awaiting the implosion in the new and improved USSA.

Personally, I like to read the comments as a former employee because i started reading them for years when I worked there and commented occasionally. It's pure entertainment and habit. I just can't quit you(Layoffs.com) . I would imagine for some former employees reading this board reassures them that nothing has improved and they made the right decision. But, no i would not tell anyone they are wasting their life/time by staying even if they are here venting. Leaving after a long time was not an easy decision even in the face of losing the medical subsidy.
Must miss it for you to come here and talk about it, thought your life was so much better now, if so go enjoy It and forget about this “waste” of your life.
I think it depends on your job and skills and the demand for them. I left last year as well, but I was in ATO and was a manager/director, and knew I could find something that paid at least as much and would have a better WLB. Some people stay because of the pension eligibility, others stay because they are paid well and would likely struggle to find a comparable salary, and have decent WLB. The vacation is a big thing too. I miss the people I worked with and I have no regrets staying for 25+ years. No place is perfect, but I do not miss getting called every weekend, and in the middle of the night throughout the week.
$45.40/hr., very little work and when there is work, it couldn't be easier, 5 weeks vacation, a pension, lots of down time and a great boss to work for! There is no reason to leave no matter what people might say on this site! I'll leave when T tells me the party is over!
$43 an hour.
240+ hrs of vaca.
No weekends.
OT only when I want it.
Travel if I want.
New bucket truck.
Easy work-if we have any at all.
Boss is 100 miles away.
Why would I leave?
Wasting life? I have a great gig that pays me very well for the work I perform. I have a great team, supportive boss, and the work is fulfilling both financially and mentally. The contacts I've made during my time here will help land me a new gig if things turn south or when I get bored and need a change.
How is this wasting life? The income from my work at ATT supports my family and allows me to enjoy life. I'm in IT and officially a "manager" but only manage myself.
Wasting time is more accurate a statement for someone who left the company a year ago yet browses and POSTS to AT&T layoff form.
Many employees will have an opportunity to see what it’s like at other companies in the near future.
