Someone here mentioned that the fact that Allstate is hiring does not mean that layoffs are not around the corner. I don't believe that there will be cuts soon, but this is Allstate, a mess without any logic. Any thoughts? Can we expect another round of cuts soon?

I had several coworkers that were hired right before they were given layoff notices in 2020 so just because hiring is going on doesn't mean layoffs won't happen. Once of my coworkers was hired into a role then that role was eliminated in 2019 so they applied and were in a new role, and then were given a layoff notice in 2020 and moved into a new role, that role was then modified.
To reduce the layoffs one trick companies will do is not fill every opening when an employee leaves, I have seen it over and over again.

Believe what you want, it’s happening. Director meeting in IL last week was to discuss this very issue.
To the posters of….”in the next few months” and “ happening in the coming months”, we have heard the same phrases from others for almost two years now. Sooner or later you may be right but People of you ilk…are nothing but losers and fear mongers that make the anxious more anxious. And the two post below this one are dead on….nobody knows except the big boys upstairs
Again, I have posted this before. If we listened to everyone on this site who has an “understanding snide connection “ or was “secretly told” by a manager that we were going to have big layoffs, Allstate would only have two employees left.
This post is a complete fabrication. The only people who know anything about potential layoffs are upper senior management (we're talking CEO and director level here), and they're not and wouldn't be talking to anyone, much less low level employees.
Other than claims, what areas have you heard are being impacted?
10000% there will be layoffs. Specifically to the Express Claims Org. New vendor is being hired this fall to take on what is left of the onshore work. Tasks are being automated so that does not leave much for Specialists to do. Cheaper offshore and US based vendors that will complete the work at a higher quality to cost ratio.
@1clk+1i2WJbP1 What part of Allstate
They were hiring in 2020 also in areas that were hit hard by layoffs. A lot of new hires has their offers rescinded just before they were to start.
Trust me. Big time layoffs and employees being transferred to vendors is happening in the coming months. Don't believe it if you don't want to but it is going to happen. A lot of loose lips in upper management because a lot of heavy hitters are included in the cuts too and are letting their areas know. I wish it wasn't going to happen but I can 100% confirm that it is true.
The more subtle changes being made to eliminate the need for on shore workers the closer we will get to being laid off. Don’t be fooled. Vendors,BOTS,self -service and India are coming for your jobs !
Allstate is NOT laying off 10k people. That is more than 25 percent if their current employees and double that from the layoffs in 2020.
100% yes. You can anticipate 10,000+ US-based Allstate employees to be laid off in the next few months due to outsourcing and offshoring. Some will be rehired by vendors.
It is being done in targeted functions, so hiring will continue in areas of growth or where skills sets that don't currently reside at Allstate are needed.
