IT is going to keep shifting to India. They have lots of investments over there. They can hire 3 people for every one here or MORE. Maybe the 3 won't be a good as the one but it doesn't matter to them.

@phw1 - you seem like an HR shill saying the same thing in several threads here trying to discredit commentary.

@1ird - I think you're absolutely correct that we'll be seeing the same misery as the 70's. I expect it to be worse since that was before our manufacturing capacity for raw materials and essential components was destroyed in the race to the bottom. High cost Made in the USA end-user products just aren't going to be exporting as the entire globe suffers a recession.

The problem is that agency terminations are almost always a precursor to base- crazy to stick our hands in the sand thinking we're out of the woods on this one. Not by a long shot. The chip shortage is one thing but consumers are going into their shells and are no longer willing to shell out 50k on high margin products. It's coming folks, unless we can get there with voluntary retirements. The difference this year is that they will be very sizeable, given the high interest rate reset that is coming.

@wye - I definitely understand the sentiment. Problem we have today is how many people think that "really, really wanting something" is going to make it make reality change. Eventually the smart people realize they have to give up hoping for a goal and actually start working toward it.

All my sources only indicated agency heads, and lots of them, were hit on Friday. IT got hit for several hundred (someone mentioned around 400 in another post), many hundreds more in other areas also got tapped.

Both Wall St and Main St have been hit by economic ineptness of government and a recession has started to go with the run-away inflation. Multiple other large corps have just announced cuts or that they are coming. Layoffs are going to be widespread here and elsewhere for a while.
