Thread regarding Follett layoffs

Unionization

Is now the time to seriously discuss and push to organize unionizing our stores?
It’s well past time that store teams had a seat at the table. We’re overworked, underpaid, and overlooked at every turn, sadly this status won’t change without meaningful pressure by the collective field team under the new leadership.
So are you happy to continue with no meaningful raises while the costs of living zoom past your pay rate? Are you happy with your labor budgets and outsourcing everything to temps that you have to shadow all day during rush? Are you okay with that status quo?

Soft quitting is my thing. I’m not working myself to death for this sad state of affairs.

Or….how about if you’re not satisfied with your pay or working conditions, then you go get a new job? There are plenty of them out there.

It was time 15 years ago. If you stand together, you'll hang separately.

JRC probably does have plan. That does not mean that the plan benefits, or is even neutral, for employees. Really, the plan does not even need to be beneficial to Follett as a company, they may see more value in it by pulling out any equity and letting it go bankrupt.

Just remember, Follett was acquired by a group of private investors led by Jefferson River Capital LLC (JRC).
This term describes individuals who pool their money to invest as a group. These companies are often legally structured as partnerships. Sometimes, the members study and research specific investments and present them to the group.
They have a plan. Count on that. And alternate plans. Losing money is not in the plan.
Good luck!

Yes or the status quo continues or worsens, especially with a private equity at the helm.

But... Follett celebrated it's LGBTQ+ team members by acknowledging pride month when it's 90% over. Surely a union can't do better than that!!!
