Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Pension

The pension is far less generous than it once was. 12% contribution to retirement was the norm. Now its a 5% match. Intel used to want to be the best in comp but now they aspire to be the most average company in tech. HR has really hurt the company.

OP -- why are you complaining about pension? Anyway all intel employees enjoying unlimited paid vacation. No work is getting done. All projects delayed by multiple years (not quarters). Sh---y gfx delivery after wasting 4-5 years and burning billions of dollars. Actually intel employees should be lucky getting even 5% match. They don't deserve any match.

Pension? Nobody hired recently has an Intel pension. You have a 401k match.

If you’re an Intel leader making 500k+ per year why would you care about retirement matching for employees that make far less?

Best in comp?
What planet are you from?
There’s much better comp almost anywhere else.

After 21 years at intel my pension buy out was $950.00. it’s based on amount in your 401k and age. The pension is designed for the folks that didn’t put allot of money in their 401k and nearing retirement.
If you started in your 20’s or 30’s by the time retire from intel at 65 and you are contributing to your 401k. I am sure your pension will be almost zero. I think this lack of planning on your behalf. If you want a true pension, get a federal or city/state job.
