Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Tell Dell is a joke.

Figures in tell Dell are in no way accurate and may as well be plucked from the sky along with the crazy targets.
Because people only get the survey for the management directly above them and it is not actually anonymous like we are told everybody is afraid to tell the truth.
Anyone I have spoken to lately is burnt out and finding it tough and tired of the endless patting on the back and how great we are meetings and emails.
I personnaly would love to be cut as it may be the best to reignite my passion and drive and push me elsewhere.
My manager is pretty OK but its the team above him again that seem to be an issue.
Prove me wrong.

“ unfortunately, when you say you wouldn't recommend Dell as a place to work, it's not your direct managers fault, it is their manager and above that is the reason. The wrong person takes the fall. They should ask at which management level do you think is at fault”
Usually in my case I always had a good rapport with my direct manager always open to communication, always informed them of what was occurring so they would not be blind sided and hear about it from above or another division.
Open door policy was always there for me. Direct supervisor has little say when the executives above them make decisions without knowing what their subordinates employees roles really entail.VP’s make cost cutting decisions and inform your supervisors of what is to be done (usually cost reduction by reducing their staff )supervisor has no input or say it is a mandate from above and it is usually cost reductions and usually the way Dell reduces cost is staff reduction of older long term employees, “read project Moonshot”.

That survey is such farce. Managers at both L1 & L2 explicitly said on the question “Would you recommend Dell to friends as good place work” you better give it good scores. Also they said any complaints should only go in comments section…..who reads those! I don’t play hat game so I’ll you know how anonymous it is LOL.

I gave honest feedback on Tell Dell once, made some pointed comments about middle management. My comments on my immediate manager were strong, but he ended up in the doghouse because "I wouldn't recommend Dell as a great place to work". So now I dutifully mark everything as perfect so as not to upset the fragile egos of the middle managers above him. I agree the survey does not accurately capture the sentiments I hear on calls with other employees. Tell Dell is a punitive tool for any team with low participation or NPS scores-which is fine except it is not punitive at the right level-say L4.

We all IT professionals. How TD results could be anonymous when we submit this from personal Dell NT account.

My manager made me, not my role, redundant. Their ENPS was the worst in the country, he was demoted within a week. My team mates stood by me and ensured justice was done. BTW they did pay me a years salary to disappear.

Can't say if it's completely anonymous (at some point way down the chain), but can tell you at the L1, L2 and L3 manager level it is completely anonymous.
Have no way of finding out who voted for what from the results.

Ive been at Dell some years now and seen 2 managers managed out over their TD results . . as well as the games played prior to TD season. But we havent actually seen any TD results now for about 3 years as our manager doesnt give us the mandatory briefing. So whatever happens we're blissfully unaware.

Sounds like OP is upset that there were more promoters than detractors. If you stop spending your time speaking on others behalf or trying to get people in a negative spiral, you might actually make more money.
Prove me wrong.

I do think it’s anonymous but everyone now believes it’s not so you get the vast majority clicking the “great” button all the way down just to be safe. All the layers of management added over the last two years is insane. Micro management from VPs down. Zero trust in first line mangers.
