Thread regarding Optum layoffs

The worst possible combination

We are not paid nearly enough for our regular work and they keep expecting us to stay longer and to do more and more without ever giving us proper incentive. "Be lucky you have a job" is not a good enough argument. If they're not careful, more of us will decide to become 'unlucky' and leave for greener pastures.

I’ve endured the beginning and mid pandemic 60+ hour weeks. Excessive mandatory overtime continuously for several months at a time. I’ve see two massive layoffs in my time with Optum. I was told I’ve made the cut and be thankful I still had a job per both layoffs. I’ve seen hard working people be canned over trivial matters. Never ending micromanagement quotas that only move upward. Extremely excessive micromanagement down to the second with mouse moment and screen image refresh rate. I’m happy I left this place.

They don't care if we leave, they can just hire more people overseas and pat them less anyways. That's what their doing to us now.

That's exactly what they want. Fostering a good work culture, providing a flexible schedule with good pay and benefits is waaaayyyy too much work.

They want obedient slaves who are stuck with this job that will do anything to keep it - working more hours for less pay and fewer or more expensive benefits. People that have to suffer through the culture because it's either this or working some minimum-wage job that would make their financial situation even worse.

They don't give a f-ck about how bad it is, as long as they (the high-ranking overlords and executives) can make more money off of your labor.

Do yourself a favor and get out today. If not today, next week. Polish your skills and resume, start interviewing, and leave. There is better out there.
