Until last year, our flagship Belk store had not done a mid-year inventory. That inventory was small (select areas within departments) taking only part of a Sunday. This year we’re scheduled for 3am-11am for 5 days the last week of June. Massive store-wide mid-year inventory! What is going on? Are other Belk locations doing this as well or is my store being singled out as part of a store closure analysis?

@fvin, your store still has morning meetings?
Maybe not all the truth but they know a lot more than the tell the associates. In our store things are only said at the morning meeting and it is usually only the same few people. And when all of the others are not doing doing what they are supposed to, they talk about it at the morning meetings. So go figure. Nothing really gets resolved. And they have no interest in passing information on to the other shifts.
As a past manager with belk of over 12 years…your store managers are, in all likelihood, not being told the truth either. Like everyone else in the store, they are also too close to the bottom to be privy to important information until it’s time to implement it. My guess would be it’s a combination of both ship to home and for possible closure of some stores. But my guess doesn’t mean much.
What “they” are saying is probably cover for the real reason.

"To help ship to home". Now that's funny. In my store it is a nightmare for ship to home because of all the clearance.
Don't tell me any of you believe what belk managers say about anything. To be a belk manager you pretty much have to lie to the associates on a daily basis.
Sure it is like the sinking ship Titanic Belk is telling all of you the ship is not sinking we take in a lot of water! Lie so much your pants is on fire!
I believe all stores are having to do it. “They” are saying it is being done to help ship to home.
And they say GOD could not sink The Titanic? You know how the story will end with unsinkable Belk Titanic right? My heart will go on!
