Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Countdown to new CEO

Ford is failing on all cylinders. How much longer do we think Bill will tolerate the lack of any meaningful progress on quality, profit margin, share price and data/subscription sales?

There is no way no how I believe that Farley is running the show. Bill is.

Farley is a talking head in his role. If not, then why so many teleprompters? If Farley was the real leader, all the goings on would come right out of him with zero effort or struggle and would be genuine.

Do you recall Mulally being a teleprompter reader? Even Mark Fields came across as knowing what he was talking about and that it was coming from him, not just instructions from Bill.

@1xvi+1haIInWf If Bill wanted to run the company, he would be officially running the company. I don't think he has the desire or energy anymore for the day to day grind. He's content to be the figurehead who weighs in occassionally on big decisions.

Farley's PR blitz started long before he was named CEO. It started with the puffed up pieces about his supposed motorsports enthusiasm (mostly PWH penned). Then negative pieces about Hinrichs started popping up as a whisper campaign to eliminate his biggest competition for the CEO chair. All of these stories were planted to help Farley's image with the Ford Family.

The Farley PR campaign since he was names CEO is partly for investors, partly for the Ford Family and mostly about trying to become a celebrity CEO a la Elon. But make no mistake that the family is loving this coverage. For them it is all about "polishing the Blue Oval."

@1ubj+1haIInWf I disagree. I think Farley's PR machine is for investors/general public and JF is just a puppet, like Hackett before. It is actually Bill taking all the (wrong) decisions.

If you remember, the last time Bill was at the helm of the company, we were in a similar situation (AKA a disaster). Furthermore, why fire the knowledgeable persons and keep the incapable id--ts, unless Bill is trying to:

  1. - Hide his incompetence.
  2. - Push his "vision" (whatever it is) without a reality check.

Agree, Farley's PR machine plan is clearly to keep his profile so high that the Ford family is terrified to unseat him, EVER. He has played them into a corner and it does not matter if he runs the company into the ground.

Oh, just you wait. Have any of you noticed that the ceo of Stellantis has a life partner? Meaning, he is a super duper "pride" month person??

Bill is going to want a taste of that in his leadership and JF doesn't play on that side. Thus, nice knowing ya Jim. You ain't woke enough to be ceo.

Chris' cousin is an environment-first CEO. That is right down Botox Bill's alley. I don't see the Ford family brooming Chris' cousin. I think they'll just go down with the ship.

Not anytime soon. Farley's PR offensive has Bill and the rest of the family completely snowed.
