Feeling underpaid

Considering the amount of work I do, I am underpaid. Have you compared your salary with that of some competing companies? I did and that made me even more demoralized. It seems that if you want to be adequately compensated the only solution is to leave here.

Whether you are underpaid or not, depends on how you were ranked for the last few years. If you are “Good” then you are at par with the rest of the O&G market. But, anything lower than that you are underpaid.

Honest question: what's a reasonable way to compare salaries in AB? Glassdoor seems pretty out of whack and I don't know many of my counterparts at other O&G companies in town.

Yea head office in USA gets a better compensation. We are not that level…. We are not in downtown …. at times I feel we are in the middle of nowhere

You’re going to be underpaid as an engineer in Canada. That’s the trend now. Take the work force for granted.

You have no idea until you put yourself on the market. Since the 2020 layoffs, I have moved to a different industry with a pay cut initially. But after a year, I am back to making what I did, plus much higher upside over the next few years.

I drank the "we pay the highest" koolaid for far too long myself
