I am not with Rivian but a good friend of mine has been there from (almost) day 1. He says they so overhired that a quarter of the entire headcount had nothing to do. So, people are not surprised, it was poorly managed in general.
on my team in DT the hit was over 50%… not all teams have been affected. yes, engineering has been affected as well. this is structural but they are using it to clean the house (while they are it). i'd say 50% structural and 50% clean up!
