Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

Genuine question

For those who have left Allstate, why are you still reading and contributing to this page? I see some of you talk about how miserable you were and how glad you are to have left. Except that you haven’t totally left. You’re still attached to the company through this site. If you were so miserable, why wouldn’t you want to be free?? (Not addressing those why just gave their notice, talking more to those who left months/years ago.) Seems like it would be healthy to let go and move on. Otherwise, Allstate is still negatively impacting you emotionally and mentally. And why would you choose that?

Personally its because, since I've been gone from Allstate for around 6 months, its a combination of seeing what my ex-coworkers are going thru and confirming that no longer being with the company was the best option. I had been with Allstate for over 20 years and sacrificed alot over that time. Didn't want to leave till it became clear it was never going to get better ... and most likely worse. Towards the end we all were being overworked, overstressed and literally overwhelmed by it all. Caused by a management team that valued money (and stock price) above all else (over both customers and employees ... always a bad idea) and now is poised to drive the company into the ground. So why do I come back here? To recognize and appreciate the fact that I found room in a life raft from the Titanic (Allstate) which is tilting heavily on the horizon, hoping others find the same. Wishing things might've ended up differently had upper management not made decisions violating the very heart of what well-run companies are built on.

It’s hysterical. We’d like to see our friends who are still with the company get laid off/severance and watch the company go down in flames.

@2ibb+1hWHrwj Is a company stooge, either HR or some rep defender vendor. When great info was leaked here (and it was : don’t know source but advance info on the Dec 2020 shitstorm) ever since senior mgt caught on about this board. Around the same time the Town Halls began starting with a Notice (warning) about sharing information (and information of value to labor and employees concerned with food on the table and prob protected by the NLRB).

Allstate has given me a lot of anxiety looking for any tips or tricks to try to overcome this feeling I enjoy the customers and agency culture however I feel sick at times smh. Been looking at starting my own agency because the changes with the commission structure leaves a lot of uncertainty for the future. The question posted was a funny one because I keep saying the same thing if you are so happy then why come back here to this forum .

I still have some friends and colleagues there that I care about, I’m trying to see what’s happening to the company as a whole.

This site is a sort of therapy for me. I feel as if I have PTSD. I need to know others feel like me. I need to commiserate with survivors. As I succeed in my new job, as I am allowed to settle claims for what they are worth without being micromanaged, I will prolly move on. I’m not quite there yet. But feeling better every day.

Not salty at all, Happy Jack. Just don’t understand why people would still want to have anything to do with something that caused them so much grief. And especially on a site like this that is mostly people just complaining.

OP sounds resentful or a bit salty….I simply like to troll those who complain all day on this site but still remain with the company as if they’re being forced to, and the irony is we’re in the hottest job market of all time.

No. That's not the way modern pensions work. Too many 80s and 90s companies tried to BK their way out of pension obligations. The rules changed. Pensions changed. Today's pensions are small by pre 2005 standards, funded and guaranteed.

If you have a pension un allstate, you wouldn't root for it's demise. You def don't hope current leadership fails.

A CEO only gets kicked off due to catastrophic failure. The CEO is already rich. Only the little people suffer in that

Many of us have pensions with Allstate. We have a vested interest in Allstates health and performance.

Because I want to let people know there are great options out there and it’s ok to move on.

hate.

i remember what being at allstate was like during the 2020 layoffs. i remember bs conditions thereafter. then i left. but i know this site is on allstate's radar, i know it bothers them enough to send shills, and i want to be part of it. i want to help keep c-suite heads off of their pillows at night. because that's what happened to me.

I left Allstate 5 years ago and it’s really affecting my mental and physical health. I’m sure it took years off my life working there for over 40 years. I’m on this forum to help the people who work there know that they are not alone when they are looking for moral support and when they need validation for the awful way they feel by working there. I’ve been through it all and I try to offer them comfort and advice. That’s why I come back here.

It’s kind of like being released from prison. You are so happy to be free but your curious about what’s going on back inside. It’s even better because you can read about the prison and not be in it. Ahhhhhhhhhhh, love not being at Allstate

Dear: Genuine question, yes we have totally left, yes I still have many coworkers-friends that I still associate with on weekly basis, yes I am still curious about the Allstate debacle and direction they are headed, yes the last 3 or 4 years of employment I had was miserable but 20 years prior was great, no I am no longer attached by just reading a website, no my physical, mental and emotional health is just fine mainly since I no longer work for
Allstate, yes I have moved on and working in a different line of work. Yes I do miss the benefits and 42 pto days, thank you for asking.

Isn’t it already confirmed though? Do you really need to keep reading about how unhappy other people are to reassure yourself? You already know you made the right decision for you.
