ATSV Town Hall this Morning - Job Cuts Coming

Just had our town hall. The question of increasing salaries to keep up with inflation was raised. I laughed at this one! Suren had just said earlier how they are looking to cut costs. He danced around the issue and stated Allstate is competitive with salary compared to other insurance companies but they need to reevaluate "absurd salaries" and that "we still need to cut costs" then quickly slipped in about "reducing head count". Why don't they just say that? Why the secrecy? Just admit you will be cutting the workforce.

So people, there WILL be cuts coming if you are in Tech,

How is the PMO looking? Is Northbrook doomed, either other talent centers or ANI/offshore? The silence is deafening.

In my area, the first thing to go was a Scrum Master. They are talking about still using Agile, but going with a different type of agile and apparently a SM is not essential. Also sending our dev jobs to ANI because ASPL was not cutting it in terms of quality. They are also looking to other vendor sources. I suspect all areas will be affected in some way but if you are in middle management, I would be concerned. Too many layers which are not essential. If you are a US based coder but very GOOD, you should not worry. Good coders are hard to find.

I was on that call also just wondering how are they cutting people. Like by department? Or just every department

I know cuts are coming and we are vending out our Service areas. ATSV is the worst place for cuts. As we try to make improvements and optimize processes, we submit request into POD that are consistently deprioritized. Allstate will never cut real costs without strong technology support. Allstate will never be able to compete with Geico/Progressive until it can move faster to keep up with the customer technology demands. Cutting jobs is short sighted in my opinion.
