There are no words to describe what it was like to be continuously demoralized and criticized by my superior who probably wanted to convince me that after almost ten years of working here, I don't know how to do my job. There is no better feeling than giving notice and leaving for a much better company.

Allstate claims has a culture of worshipping rank and hierarchy, but once you leave claims you realize how nonsensical the work is and how overworked/underpaid everyone is. For example, claims directors have hundreds of employees under them, but it’s not uncommon for directors in other areas of the company, and other companies/industries to have fewer direct reports than a claims CSL (under 12) - whole making the same or more
Same applies to DSM’s and CSL’s, you can make their salaries elsewhere doing half the work with half as many direct reports.
I agree with OP. I was in repped BI. My CSL would give me a good review, 95%, and then tell me all the bad things about it. She’d let it go “this time.” Micromanaging to the max. She even complained about what letters I capitalized in NextGen notes. Monthly file reviews had us all on edge. Very very demoralizing.
He’s not saying the job has to be fun. But he is saying that being respected and treated fairly is a requirement. I’m not sure at what point in time AS just didn’t care about treating their employees nicely but it’s certainly been a problem at many different levels in my experiences. I’ve left for far greener pastures and look back at my AS days and just can’t believe some of the things I saw in the various MCOs.
This comment below makes no sense. and some jobs are fun. Stop settling.
Give it a rest. Lots of people don’t like their jobs. If working was fun, everyone would be doing it.
You're lucky. I would have given you only 1 year before asking you to go
