Thread regarding Gulfstream Aerospace layoffs

Unions aren’t bad, greedy US corporations are.

It’s real simple folks, you are getting screwed at every opportunity. The US corporation spent billions to destroy unions because they knew they could sc--w you if they did. Problem is that they have taken things too far & the US pulling back from globalization forces them to move away from outsourcing. They will not play fair until they are forced to. Take the initiative & put a union up for a vote. If not now it’ll happen in the near future. The generation coming up is getting sc--w in life too much to not fight back. Ridiculous student loans, terrible salaries & benefits, out of control inflation without proper raises, & an overall erosion of the American dream(now a nightmare of slavery to a system that screwed them). The choice is yours. Don’t let the corporate propaganda influence you to continue to let yourself get screwed over.

No time like the present for a Union, just look at what the UAW is asking for 40% wage increase and what the 3 major Pilot unions received 34 to 41% wage increase over 4 years.

Unions are a mixed bag. On one hand, they protect the employees from age/wage discrimination. Where the company wants to come in and layoff the highest paid employees. At least with the union you have some protection from that m.

on the other hand people who have been there the longest and decide they don’t wanna work hard can’t be laid off. But a lot of unions have given up the guaranteed seniority benefits to me there’s no benefit whatsoever to being in the union.

Yeah, companies like claim that they’re going to give raises based on performance, but too often, it’s just simply office politics, and how much your Manager likes you.

The corporations, have just gotten worse and worse and treat employees, worse and worse

It's all politics. The unions are in bed with the company. They may puff and blow but at at the end of the day, they scratch each other's back. I've already lived in that world.

Unions are terrible. They Limit growth and opportunities. They protect the dead best employees who don’t want to work. Gulfstream was a great place 10+ years ago. But I’d still rather deal with Gulfstream and than union garbage.
1$ raise per year for 5 years, regardless of performance is what the union I am in now pays.
Gulfstream gave me nearly 6$ in one raise in a year….they based on performance.

Unions are great. After long enough you'll be left searching for your next job an wont have this job to complain about.

The Society of Professional Engineering Employees in Aerospace (SPEEA) can save you.

Instead of voting for a union at GAC… vote with your feet leave and go join a union somewhere else.

If you want to feel what it is like to really get screwed join a union and bend over.

Sounds like you should head over to Blue Origin.

We've been having record profits year over year and pay increases are so minimal its criminal. Blue Orgin is swooping in and taking experienced people because Gulfstream won't raise pay and continues to decrease benefits. Inflation is ki----g us, and they are hiring people who have starting pay that is more than the people who have been working here for years are making.
