Thread regarding Ford layoffs

How have involuntaries worked in the past?

I am asking about the recent past (within the last 5 years). Were people walked out that day they were told? If not, how much time was given (1 week / 1 month)?

Also, did the invol come with some type of package (1 month pay, health coverage, any money contributed to your 401K as employer contribution)?

I am really start to get nervous to be honest. I will have my 3 years in at the end of the year and from my understanding is that to keep the employer contribution to your 401k, you need to have been full-time for years. Is there any type of negotiation with the company if you are close to the 3 year mark?

Thanks in advance for any information.

Any recommended financial planners or lawyers familiar with ford firing who could advise on options for early retirement eligible employee if I get the boot?

401k I don't think there is negotiation you get what you get. the 3 years vested that applies to the ford contribution side of it I forget what its called.

A significant factor if not the most with separations at Ford are based on your skill team. If you are under the umbrella of Model e, you are more than likely in a good place to be retained. Model e is where the company's leading focus is transforming to. Why would leadership even consider reducing resources in its future business model? That would not make sense.

Other areas of Ford outside of Model e are at appreciable risk for reductions at present.

I really feel for the young g-ns that will be doing the grunt work. Without the carrot of a pension we will never see the ranks of 30+ folks doing the daily grind. That might be more of the problem these legacy companies are now facing. GM bought out all the pre 2001 pensions in 2012 and converted them to 401K type so they are ahead of FMC in that respect. Ford employees hired after Jan 1 2004 are in the FRP (Ford Retirement Plan) where 30 years mean nothing. Prior to that you are in the GRP (General Retirement Plan) where 30 yrs is everything. I am calling is quits this year and have told my people leader to cut me first to save a spot for a newbie.

Go to life at ford and just search on the word severance. Then you will see all the historical data for previous invols.

In April of this year I was told Wednesday morning that Friday was my last day or I could stop working immediately. There is a involuntary separation policy on HRONLINE.

Thank you.

"The severance amount is based on years of service, and is posted online" - I assume this will be shown on Ford Life if the invol's happen?

In 2019 SRD, people were able to leave immediately or stay for up to 2 weeks after, it was their choice. The severance amount is based on years of service, and is posted online.
