Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Layoffs in the week of July 25th

Heard a LL4 talking to other LL4 today at work as I walked passed them.

Suddenly they turned “Quiet” but the damage had already been done.

Just putting it here what I heard.

There WERE onsite meetings, about two weeks ago.

This is just the bi-weekly "I heard layoffs are coming [Insert Random Date]" post.

Op: "1sdj+1hN8pF92", July 28 through August 31 - 2,000+ all NA skill team, good luck." Does that mean ALL cuts are invol? Will there be any vols still this year?

To avoid accidental early disclosure the LL3,4 are not to use email or virtual meetings for “resource planning”. There have been problems with people getting access to these partly because some of the LL* are Luddites (although they pretend to be techies) and partly because tech savvy employees are able to waltz around the “security”. So it is plausible that there were some on-site meetings.

@vms

I work onsite, it is a ghost town here. If I saw two LL4s near each other, I would think I'm dreaming.

Lots of people must be in your office to pass in the hallways, we’re still WFH. Fishy.

Noticed our system was changed so the test run with China on 7-15 must have worked. Management still being quiet in my area. I think the week of July 26 is correct. I think all salary grades will be hit. Team Leaders even seem pretty scared and silent.

kyp - I thought I would feel sad/anxious, but I just feel relieved... morale has been really low in my department and we're overworked, so I don't really care anymore. I might take a few months off and travel before starting the job search... I have less than 10yrs at Ford and am still in my 30s, so hopefully shouldn't take too much effort to land on my feet. Even if I get caught in a recession, I have enough savings to last me several decades in a low cost country, so not worried :)

I just got a software update (beyondtrust, powerbroker) to be installed in my laptop on July 25, so last week of July makes sense

In the old days they would deliver a stack of foldable boxes for a Black Friday event. My LL4 buddies are as much in the dark as anybody else. One thing for sure Ford can’t continue without a shake up. I recall a few years back the Detroit public schools had a pick up your paycheck in person day to rat out the slackers. Wouldn’t that be a fun time.

I take it the extent of what you heard was only "Layoffs will be happening the week of July 25th?"

Just curious, what department: PD, IT, Marketing & Sales, ….

The problem is LL4s+ need to go. During SRD they just shuffled staff to keep their jobs.
