I gotta say, I don’t really think the Six Sigma focus was really that good or smart, but the one dude on here who acts like it ki---d his firstborn is consistently the most hilarious poster. My man, it’s just a bizarre corporate methodology, it can’t hurt you.

I was just given a 15 day separation that would still pay me but no longer working. Along with 4 weeks severance and 50 hours pto to be paid out in one lump sum
It was already cut horribly in 2016. While management gets 12 weeks, most Associates and techs get 8 weeks but I think sales reps only get 2 weeks. They also pay it as a lump sum whereas they used to keep you as "inactive" so you only get 2 weeks of medical. Though if you resign, your medical is cut off the next day. It's a pretty bad package already. If they want people to stay until the end while they close out accounts, they sort of have to offer some kind of bone. They don't pay enough for people to want to work there anymore without that teeny, tiny little safety net. The best part of working for Xerox though is that many, many other employers still value the brand and the training you come with. Those courses they make you take do mean something on your resume. You may not think you're qualified to do anything else but your skills will transfer. One thing Xerox has always done well is training - for sales, for diversity. They turn people into good corporate soldiers. I still utilize skills I learned from my very first training that taught problem solving (pre-Six Sigma and far superior) and how not to defend/attack in interactions and those skills with Xerox on my resume got me to my next job.
Don't worry, be happy. More like blissful...
As of a few months ago it was 12 weeks for management and 8 weeks for Techs. Reality is they don't have to offer anything...but...by taking the severance you sign papers saying you will hold Xerox harmless for anything and everything including the past, present, and future and you waive all possibilities of coming back on them for anything and everything.
On a tax side of things they take almost 50 percent of your bonus/severance money but you get it all back in the next year taxes whether it reduces what you owe or increases your refund. Unfortunately they don't give the severance to help you but to protect them from future law suits etc.
It's only 8 weeks just under $5000.00 So no big deal if it goes away.
Dog, I don't know your situation but it ain't healthy to stress out over a few dollars.
In the 80’s there was an added bonus of 3 months added to whatever one
was eligible for …Saw many good people leave with 15 months…It’s a far cry from what is offered today which is a reflection of how far Xerox has fallen.
No big deal. It’s almost nothing now. Was a month for a year back in the ‘80’s.
Over the years It has gone from:
- 2 weeks per year of service
- 1.5 weeks per year of service
- 1 week per year of service
- 1 week per year of service, capping at 12 (or is it 10?)
I'm not sure if there was anything better than 2 weeks per year back in the good old days, or if it has gotten worse since the max of 12 that I last knew.
Could they cut it more? Certainly. I don't believe they have any legal obligation, other than to what a union might have worked out for union employees. Cutting this more would likely force others out, as I wouldn't want to be in a position where suddenly tomorrow I have no job, and no severance pay to fall back on while looking for a job.
I seriously doubt they would cut the severance beyond the current state. They would risk losing more people than they can afford to.
must be kidding around
What is the standard severance package?
