Thread regarding Enbridge Inc. layoffs

Packages and Retirement Bridges Coming?

If you took the WFH option and noticed that some of your cohorts were only coming in 1 or 2 days a week (if not zero days), you may have decided to start doing the same thing and maybe not even tell your manager that you were; especially if your manager works at home all the time or at another office location.
If you are one of them, I would suggest letting your manager know ASAP what you have done as all of this has been recorded. Your "away time" on MS Teams when at home is also being looked at and recorded.
When the time comes they will have enough evidence to fire you instead of laying you off with a package or a retirement bridge offer, and that's what's coming soon to an Office Monday near you!
If you are supposed to be at the office Mondays , Tuesdays and Thursdays and you worked from home on most Thursdays without your manager's approval you are a truant and can be easily fired for it and will!
You probably deserve it

I don't browse the internet for over an hour a day. Nor do I bore colleagues about my family. I also don't give a cr-p about your kids swim meet, hockey games, your family vacation to some cheap Mexican all-inclusive booked on Expedia, or how you camp in an RV and take dumps in a bucket while being attacked by mosquitos for a week. Enough.

Sign me up for a package !
This company has become that absolute worse.
After 25 + years here never ever seen morale so low and everyone don’t give a f**k !!
Unbelievable how bad so so many detest their jobs now.
Sure thing I will go if the offer is there.

"Smokers and vapers are the absolute worst"
Interesting thing you say that about your coworker.
She probably smokes as much as you internet browse and spend time chatting about your wife and kids with your coworkers.
Its always the self righteous non smokers that see no problem with that.

I like your post. That person you are describing rats people out for the things you describe because they know they are taking all those breaks and stealing time.
Essentially it's a defence mechanism they use by going on the offence and making the accusations about personal internet browsing or whatever else, to take attention away from them and so that if anyone strikes back and questions their smoking/vaping time with the manager it looks like a childish t-t for tat situation, making you look bad in the eyes of the manager. It's very calculated and manipulative behaviour and a good manager should be able to see through that cr-p. It's even worse when the manager is a smoker or vaper too! Good luck there! Think the manager will have an unbiased perspective?

Smokers and vapers are the absolute worst. So much wasted time. Poison yourself in your spare time at home FFS. There is one on my team who takes 5 smoke breaks every work day for 20 minutes at a time and then takes an hour lunch and leaves early. I usually wouldn't care if work was getting done but it isn't. She had the gall to rat out people for reading the news, personal email, sports sites periodically on their computers during the day. and our d-mb manager took the bait. The rats are the usually the ones who do the least amount of work. Just the worst.

Ya. Can't fathom why anyone of a sound, sober mind would choose to reside in the NW. All the action in Calgary happens in the South. Kensington neighborhood/district is overrated. Nose hill is a dump full of dog fe--s. U of C is a subpar university. I guess the only reasons to ever set foot in the NW would be to attend a Stampeders game in a stadium that feels like it will collapse at any second or visit a family member who is at the hospital. Just a depressing area. Haven't set foot in the NW for 6 years.

Southwest till I die.

Ya but it can't possibly be worse than Edmonton though! 😂

Yes we are. When not WFH on Wednesdays and Fridays they are in the office located at
223 8th Ave SW downtown across the street from McDonalds.
Come by and see us sometime!

To the screenshot person:

I am guessing that you are probably someone just having a laugh putting that down. But if you were serious and you seriously think that an Enbridge "investigator" or an IT person would have the talent or means to find out who is posting based solely on a screen shot, then you are just plain ignorant. 😂
I suppose if someone was d-mb enough to use a company device to access and post on this site they could be caught and if someone is that d-mb they really should not be working at ENB.😂
The closest anyone can get to tracking this stuff down is by getting access to server logs and looking at the IP addresses. The only ways to get that is either through a court order or by hacking. Even then you could be dealing with VPNs or proxies.
I like to use a VPN to be extra safe, wherever I am online. Right now my IP address comes up as if I was in Istanbul.🇹🇷

Why don't you take a selfie of yourself crying, while suckling the ENB teet. Worth much more than a screenshot.

Oh sheeeet maybe ENB I.T. dept is going to hack the mainframe and trace my ip? Craap, that sounds like a totally normal and possible thing a company would do. Oh no!

Shut the fu-k up. This is a layoff board that is set up for people to gossip and complain. It’s anonymous. If they could figure out who you were they’d have done that a long time ago. If they could figure out who was actually worth a sh-t to keep around during layoffs or any other time for that matter they would. The fact of the matter is they don’t. They never have. Hence layoffs are completely random. They grab a group of people who have more personnel than they can justify and they pick people who are advantageous to get rid of, that’s it. So be as pi---d as you’d like for people who shop or mow or do whatever there won’t be any stopping it. Whether you are taking screen shots and sending that off or not…furthermore why are YOU on this board? Maybe somebody needs to be investigating what YOU are doing on here in the middle of a work day no less.

I sincerely hope that there are company people monitoring this page and come down with the fullest extent of power on those who are exploiting the company while working from home. The posts below have infuriated me and I have taken screenshots and plan to submit them to some upper people who hopefully will launch and immediate investigation. There has to be some way to track these miscreants down? Termination for cause and pursue legal avenues to recoup stolen wages.

Get real mowing your lawn or visiting a Costco to shop in the middle of the day. This is now under investigation and they will find you, "Wayne Campbell" and others of your ilk.

We all need to be a bit more like Wayne. The 40h work week came about during a time when one person could support a family of 4, buy a house, a car, go on vacations, etc.

Now two people work 50h a week each and generate more value to companies than ever before due to our massively increased productivity since 1970.

Take your 3 day work week! Game the system, because the system is set up to exploit you.

I may be irrelevant but you are definitely hilarious! 😂

Have fun walking the dog tomorrow and dont spend too much at Costco!

If I ever make it to Calgary, I'll be sure to SCHWING by the Red Crowns Pub and look for you. It will be party time! It will be excellent!

Until then party on!

Wayne Campbell here.

I live in Aurora, Illinois and have an extensive collection of hair nets and name tags. I also have my own cable access tv show with my buddy Garth Algar.

Phishing Button: I am laughing at you. You are totally irrelevant. Go ahead and sleuth for brownie points. E-mail me your findings if you find out who I am.

Until then, I will clock in tomorrow morning for a few hours and visit Costco on the first nation at 10am (Enbridge $$ supporting FN). Then take the dog out to Fish creek again that afternoon. Should be a beauty day.

Wayne Campbell:

Love your post and love the reference to phish Creek! It makes me want to launch Workday and look you up. Problem is there could be people at ENB that want a list of who is reading this post and may be able to run a report that shows who in the Enterprise has looked up this person in Workday. Wayne Campbell could very well be a fake name that does not actually work for Enbridge 😂

If you’re mowing your own lawn, you’re not making ELT $$$$.

Gaming the system means getting to at least VP pay scale, exec level bonuses and perks.

Your post made me laugh.

Someone on Reddit posted a script that makes your Windows OS appear to be used 24/7 and I took advantage... I was technically in my home office for 40 hrs last week but in actuality I walked the dog in Fish Creek and then was at the pub with friends for a few hours celebrating Stampede. Oh yeah, I also mowed my lawn at 2pm one day. Gotta love the WFH life. Now watching an episode of "The Liquidator" from my couch and then going to hit the gym in half an hour. Love how a third of my week is now vacation.

Game the system. They would cut you for no reason tomorrow if it benefited them. Party on dudes.

Work being done or not is not related to WFH.

Wherever you work, if you're doing your job, good for you. If you aren't doing your job, your manager should notice, because... you know.. thats THEIR job, and they talk to you.

Wtf does WFH have to do with this exactly? This whole thing seems like some insecure fool crying about literal nonsense.

Mr Truant whom started this post. How about you stop caring about about what everyone else is doing and just do your job like the rest of us.

If work is getting done - what is the big deal?

You may be all green on teams but you are hardly productive while you worry about why everyone else is yellow.

Sheesh - get a life and stop being a dbag.

Here’s a tip no one likes a tattle tale and btw - they don’t get promoted either. You obviously would have learned that in kindergarten like the rest of us if you weren’t too busy telling on everyone

If you think ENB is organized enough to monitor each employees computer usage to determine productivity then you're dilousional.

They barely have enough IT support to keep the business up and running. How exactly are they able to do this alleged spying?

If you need to resort to spying on your employees to determine 'productivity' then you have failed as a manager. A workers productivity is measured by the results they produce, not the amount of clicks, keystrokes, emails or minutes available in teams they have.

I really hope this means they are cracking down on the abuse of the Enbridge WFH program. I do not work for Enbridge but my wife does. It really sucks because she is only supposed to be working from home 2 days a week but has been doing it 3 or 4 days a week and I work from home 5 days a week!
I miss having my mistress over consistently on Tuesdays and Thursdays and this WFH program abuse is screwing it up for me! (no pun intended)
PLEASE DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS NOW!!!

All you hardcore WFH 5 days a week types hate having to to to the office bathroom cubicle to do snort your rails. A nice glass table top in your home office is way more private and way less risky. Give rehab a try!

OP sounds like a scared manager. Scared that their job of micromanaging people in the office is being jeopardized by WFH.

Get used to this slugger. Things will not go back to the 'normal' you so badly want.

Workers got a taste, and young workers are spicy. They're the future, and they don't want to come in to your depressing cubicle farm when they can work from home.

It's a tough pill to swallow for many, but those who don't adapt, die.

Why come in? I have done that and spend most days on teams calls.

Enbridge has outsourced so much that why should I slug my a$$ to a desk to sit on a phone all day and never interact with a human soul in the office because of back to back to meetings.

When leadership actually staffs roles properly and not have the inverted pyramid of management where we have 8 managers offsite managing 1 person doing work. More like the one person doing work at the bottom is actually doing all the management work keeping all the outsourced workers doing what they are supposed to be doing while the managers blabber away about cr-p on calls (the poster of this thread is undoubtly one of them ).

I will happily spend 5 days in an office when enbridge becomes a real company and not a virtual shell of management.

My guess is you they want people in the office because it’s the only thing that justifies their position and going out to do real work would not make sense for these people.

"Will asset Performance be safe from the layoffs? Assuming we are protected as usual"

You mean terminations, not lay offs. It's a more cost effective way of offloading overvalued, absent human assets.
As for the Assets Performance group, you are all safe for now....at least until the new APM AI tech is rolled out and then you can all GTFO! We won't miss you!
