Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Does IFS have actual signed up customer yet?

Has anyone actually signed up? Why does IFS need thousands of employees? What exactly do they do? Seems like a giant waste of $$$

@4rap - Large geometry = low margin. So IFS should market itself to compete against UMC and GF as a manufacturer of commodity cr-p, instead of against TSMC and Samsung.

They can manufacture larger geometry chips. Not every product needs to be bleeding edge, though if you read comments you would think so.

Chances of any advanced node customer signing up are basically zero

Intel has been behind since 2019. Intel is not a process leader anymore.

Intel is close to two fab nodes behind TSMC and Samsung, so yes, IFS is a huge waste of $$$$$
