Once you hit your ppto max it does not start accumulating in your pto. That’s it. If you don’t call off but want to use protected, request a day off using the ppto instead of pto.

To the person asking about Max total on PPTO. It actually depends on what State you work in. I work in Illinois and we earn our PTO PPTO equally. Example: a 20+ year associate can earn up to 152 hours of each per year for a total of 304. There are a few other states that are the same and California has no limit on PPTO. You can view this all on the Wire.

To your questions on legacy sick time and personal time. You can put in for your sick time but your manager has to put in for the hours. What I do is I put in for my day off I need it can be for Dr appointment or family matters etc. I put in as unpaid time .other. or medical. Then when I do that I email my manager let them know or tell them we need legacy sick time in for that day u requested off. I would do it before schedules come out so they can work around that and know. Personal time is different I think u need to use up all your ppto and pto time before u can get that in.also all this is in the wire.hope this helps you.good luck.

A manager has to put in your old sick time. You lose your personal time.

How does one access their sick and personal hours that on the books from before the company changed how we accumulated time off hours? I have over 60 of personal and sick hours combined. I should be able to utilize those hours. In my world before I retired, vacation, sick, PTO, whatever you wanted to call it, was considered a benefit . I earned these hours, however I am unable to access them.

"the question was once you Max your protected for the year so you get it in regular pto"

No. Protected is capped once reached that is it. Protected is not like the old Sick pay hence the reason Walmart Inc switched to it.

You can put in for requests off and use protected, just like you do with pto. So if you’ve accumulated a lot and are not one to call of, just request time off and use protected vs, vacation.

Nope once you meet your limit in PTO you have to wait until next February to start earning again.

Then you either use the hours or wait to get paid out in February.

You do not bank any extra hours and nothing is accrued to any other form. That is one of the reasons for the switch to PTO and the other is because if you do not work you do not earn PTO.

Go to your boss and ask them to contact HR and pay out your vacation, $$$....zoom. Or take your vacation!

I use all but 40 in September for a extra vacation. I’ve never used more then one sick day in a year so that’s more then enough left over.
