Thread regarding Refinitiv layoffs

The amount of work

I feel anxious and overwhelmed by a mountain of work. I have been working here for several years and I have never had more work to do. I hoped that it would only be temporary, however, no, I am getting more and more work all the time. How busy are you? Despite my experience, I no longer know how to cope with such an overload.

Get out now. You won't regret it. The workload is not going to get any smaller. I highly suspect this is the new normal.

Learn to manage your worklife and don't allow other people to make their problems yours. Negotiate what you are willing to do and what you expect in return.

I left recently and I was doing weekend working. 8am - 8pm days. The business had made some appalling decisions and had driven a key service off a cliff through some historic awful decisions . Only heroics from some remaining staff were going to rescue the situation.

The management were in too much trouble and didn't have the energy to look after their staff. I had a senior leader tell me "if we need to burn people out then that's what we have to do" with regards to the project.

I wish I'd left so much earlier. I felt constantly anxious and it badly affected my quality of life. I'd recommend reading a bit about burn out and look seriously at leaving. It isn't worth hurting your health for.
