All I am going to say is that I am in a upper leadership support role and work directly with the people making decisions like the layoffs and site closures. I was informed maybe 3 months ago that there were serious talks about closing lower performing sites in higher pay areas. Why you ask? Well, I asked the same thing - turns out attrition is much higher in areas with a higher cost of living, in lower paying areas $20.00 an hour is semi-competitive which makes people think twice about quitting. In area where the cost of living is much higher attrition is through the roof. When attrition is through the roof, it drives stats down due to lack of experienced employees handling calls. Anyhow, I was told that the changes would be in the next 8 months but they are not final.
My best recommendation is that if you are in a lower performing site that you get your bu-t in gear and help the site perform. Lastly, to the person who commented stating that Jon is doing everything possible to get jobs moved back to the US, that's a complete lie. In the last 6 months we have shipped hundreds of more jobs to the Philippines and Alorica statewide. Almost the entire HINT team is outsourced, over half of customer care and a large portion of Business Care.
Don't end up a layoff statistic, stay aware, the only reason I am even posting this is because I am concerned for the families that will end up impacted. Layoffs are a serious thing, people end up homeless and some committing su----e, it's not a joke to me.
