Thread regarding T-Mobile layoffs

Hey Retail Folks READ THIS & STFU

I was let go several weeks ago and after feeling miserable, destroyed, and lost, I found a new opportunity that already showed more support during the interview process alone than I had ever had at TMo.

That being said retail/in store peeps just listen, you aren’t untouchable and let me tell you now how this will all shake out within the next 6-18 months:

  1. Bottom 10% MEs will be cut (you think you’re short staffed now, you have no idea what January 2023 is going to feel like)
  1. Store Managers that continue to bobble on the nuts of the company, you will get cut to the looks of 1 Store Manager overseeing 2-3 locations. If you think it’s a joke, Verizon has been doing that for years and guess what, NOTHING changed in stores because most (not all) of you store managers sit in the back while your RAMs and frontline do the work and you think you’re untouchable. I just hope the douchiest of the group gets cut and not the few good people left.
  1. RAMs in low door swing doors will be offered ME positions and most locations will have key holders going forward. If you don’t think it’s possible, just wait and see if you are a low traffic store you’re up this year right before Q4 sooooooo good luck.

So all you in-store peeps that think you’re untouchable, I get it, you get paid a lot to do absolutely nothing which is a win now but if you really think they are “cutting the fat” that wasn’t needed, your fat assess will be cut soon sadly so STFU and just accept the company isn’t the same, stop being the Twitter wh--es you’ve had to be to be considered for a promotion, and have some genuine care for all the people behind the scenes that have worked harder than you ever will as you hide behind the hard work of your underpaid RAMs and frontline teams.

To all that were let go, take a deep breath, it’s gonna be ok, enjoy the severance and start using ALL your connections now to find something better and a company that is what it is and doesn’t sell you a show.

lol, we’d have to have options in color and storage in order to ask those questions. More like convincing people to take what we have….

How dare you intimate Retail does nothing. How about 55 to 60 hours a week at salary with no salary increase because of a bogus write-up. I was given my pink slip as well, and as a former Sprint employee and a non-vaxxed, I find it a little coincidental. These bean counters didn't look at performance either, as I know I am one of several in my area fitting the criteria. Mmm. Something smells fishy in Bellevue.

People in the store ask a couple
Questions: what phone do you want? What color? What storage? (Maybe a "do you want a case?)

Hey everyone. Current RSM here. While I will admit to have zero inside knowledge of anything, I could see the potential of some of the stuff mentioned. There’s a store 15 minutes away from me and the RSM there is pretty awful to say the least. I could see myself at my store 2-3 days a week and at the store the other half and I could see the numbers for both locations actually improving. Both store RAMs would have greater impact and influence which would help develop a stronger bench if the day ever comes where we promote people again. While I also completely disagree with RAMs doing all the work, I do know a lot of leaders simply have checked out (for obvious reasons) and I also understand the “we are at headcount” perspective, BUT we were told/promised that if in store we’re safe and that didn’t happen. I think for me personally the hard part is knowing that if it was annoying/frustrating with all the career mapping changes the last few years now add to that fewer spots to actually promote to and all new positions gone that kind of makes work a little disheartening. Best of luck everyone.

I agree that it's highly unlikely that you're going to see 2-3 locations under 1 RSM. If that happens, you would see a lot of resignations, especially in SMRA land where stores can be an hour apart. There's no way you can effectively run 3 stores with one RSM, let alone 2.

And the post saying that most RSMs do nothing is completely full of fe--s and is a jaded RAM whining from his own personal experiences in his store. There's more to just selling on the sales floor. Maybe you can apply to be your own store manager one day and see there's more to it than hawking an Apple Watch at someone.

I can guarantee you that we’re not going to 2-3 stores for every RSM. Guys, we had too many RSMs and RAMs. We’re back to the EXACT same structure and management of 2019. That’s a good thing. Or better yet, tell me why that’s a bad thing.

lol I will absolutely let them reduce it to me over 2-3 stores before I walk out on ‘em.

I don’t think the original post implied that people in stores don’t do anything. I think the point was retail folks think/believe the continued lie that they will always be safe and we’ve already seen that’s not true and I can 100% confirm the accuracy of MOST of the original post. It’s unfortunate but as someone that’s been with the company from 10+ years and started as an ME, I do agree MOST RSMs don’t do as much as they should and that most stores could, NOT SHOULD, function with the Verizon style management structure. Based on how we’ve literally done almost everything Verizon did back a few years I can see us going down that path. RIP T-Mobile, sad to see is going down like this.

If you think people in stores do nothing you have truly disconnected from reality.
