Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Best decision I ever made

I left eight weeks ago but it feels like I have been gone for as many months. I can't believe how long I allowed myself to stay in such a toxic work environment just because I was too scared to start over somewhere else. I can tell you, without doubt, that working at a normal company with positive culture is worth the risk.

"Where you working now? What are you doing at the new employer?"

Doing the same thing for a different company, just for a lot more money.

Why are you coming back to an AT&T Layoff site? Do you miss us?

Good luck in your new job and you should drop AT&T from your mind totally

"...the most surprising but not really surprising part of it all was leaving and no one even caring, no thanks for your service no “good luck”. Nothing. "

I am shocked that you were an alleged long-term employee, and you had no idea that no one would care if you left.

Same, left months ago now. Scary to start over after years of service but I couldn’t work for such a toxic place anymore. No more stupid useless metrics, no more stupid surveys and even stupider customers, worthless layers of management. Better pay, cheaper benefits and still union. It took me years to find an exit, started looking after that stupid DTV purchase, but don’t give up if you are in the same boat. There are saner alternatives out there, don’t give up looking. I supposed the most surprising but not really surprising part of it all was leaving and no one even caring, no thanks for your service no “good luck”. Nothing. They did however have the nerve to then send me an email with a survey/feed back on how they could maybe improve the company. If you have to ask that after we leave then that should tell you all you need to know.
