Craft Offer

Any word on another "offer" to get craft employees out the door?

"Lump sum is not the only option . "

Not in the business unit that I used to work in. Loved being paid to leave.

They're going to offer a case of beer and two bags of peanuts. Most will jump for that offer!

xvc+1hAVDtYQ. No illusions. I’m happy with my salary and career. Not looking for some CS handout from the company to depart. BTW, since you brought it up, all management jobs at T are bashed up against market value at least one a year so they remain aligned with the market and be fair and competitive. Nothing like that happens with union jobs. It’s simply unchecked greed with those jobs and the union wants every single member in group 1 wage regardless of skill, experience, education or function. Once again, union nonsense blinds you to reality.

Core will be transitioning to fiber installs. Can’t get competent prem techs and fiber build is growing fast. If you don’t like doing installs and you’re pension eligible, considering lump sum it’s time to go. The “I don’t do that” won’t work anymore.

Lump sum is not the only option . Opt for the annuity if the lump sum is much lower. The company wants you to take lump sum. Then you are off the books. It would make sense to offer early out package if more employees might take the annuity.

xvc+1hAVDtYQ, ditto. OP, nothing is stopping you from leaving. If you want to go then just go. Expecting some ridiculous over the top buyout on top of the ludicrous amount of wage (as compared to market value for the same work functions) you get as a union employee to simply leave a job you don’t want to be in, shines yet another light on the destructive nature of the union as a whole.

Every first line manager makes about 10% base salary more than craft. You might get a bonus for working 50+hours a week, but you don't get overtime. Do you as a 1st or even 2nd line manager have any illusion that you would be paid more (as compared to market value for the same work functions) in some other industry?

“They don’t have to with a 20% drop in your lump sum next year. It’ll be like rats jumping from a sinking ship. So if your ready to leave better leave before January 1st.”

It’s already down 20% and will probably be down close to 25% when June segment rates are announced later this month. I only see it getting progressively worse until November. Prepare accordingly

Don't be so naive! There isn't going to be a buyout for craft. Craft is in demand one way or another. If they downsize in one area, they'll be rehired in another! Don't wait around for something that's not gonna be offered!

Why would I leave? I work maybe 4 hours a week.
And often get called in on the weekends for OT.
I'll hang around til I get at least 40 years at 58.

T has no money for pay to leave. All the money was wasted on failed acquisitions.
