Thread regarding Whole Foods Market Inc. layoffs

John Mackey's Legacy

What will be left of Whole Foods Market when John Mackey leaves in September? From where I am standing not a thing. This man built a great company and then stood there and did nothing while "the Board and shareholders" bullied him into stepping aside just long enough to allow Walter Robb to destroy everything he had built. Mackey made two huge mistakes, one was going public and the other was letting the Board tell him what to do with his company. That ultimately led to pushing him into selling to Amazon which will be the final nail in the Whole Foods Market coffin and everyone left still standing with it. John may walk away a very wealthy man but he will leave behind no legacy after years of hard work building the company of his dreams. Many people bought into those dreams and worked hard right along side you and we are left with nothing...............I hope that haunts you for the rest of your life because the people you messed over are up in age and have no where to go and Amazon will eat us alive. Amazon cares about no one. I guess that will be your legacy, how you left your people to the wolves.

he-l i'd be happy if they just went back to our benefits package pre 2002...and gave us the team members some representation on the board of directors and shareholders boards...so we could have a say in the direction and plans of the company...i remember back around 2008 when we were voting on our benefits(remember when we voted on benefits??? but it was always about what you had to lose...) and i iasked our store pbs person why we were cutting the insurance so drastically and she said the insurance was in the red by several million...i asked why could we just scale back on the insane level of store development going on at that time(just before the big recession) and shore up the insurance..she said the board doesnt think along those lines...lol....and now we are here with store closings and a poopy benefits package...

Start the unionazation process even if you don't plan to stay atleast that will make the people up top unhappy. If they don't want it that means it's good for us and bad for them.

None of us should expect WFM to maintain it's current structure after Sept 1st . AMZ is tightening across the board; why would WFM be an exception? Dont get caught flat footed--be ready, people

Who cares about him anymore he and his people did well for awhile but ran the company into the ground. He still preaches nonsense that nobody in his leadership group believes. You can just look at Jason and see he is a liar in every photo just from the look in his eyes . He's on his pointless fluff tour now to try and make it look like he cares about the employees. Show them all how we care about upper managment by unionizing the dumpster fire this company has become. NOBODY at global cares about the low level employees even though they produce all the revenue for the salaries of the clowns running WFM.

I remember that video! They were so excited about that commercial. I’ll never forget how they set up the big presentation and had Will Paradise and Walter Robb come out to present. It was at that time I knew Whole Foods had abandoned it’s core values in pursuit of a bigger piece of the pie. They had already gobbled up the small market upscale stores and they now had their sight set on the Walmarts and Targets of the world. Well we see how that worked out. I was one of the 2015 layoffs, but I was called back and I accepted. It never felt right, but money is money so I played along. When Amazon bought WF, that was it for me. I’ve moved on and changed careers altogether and could not be happier.

as i have worked on mackey's farm for more than two decades i also think one of his biggest mistakes was going public and getting on that venture capital te-t....who remembers back in about 2013 or 14 when they sat us down to watch a "history of wholefoods" video and mackey sat glassy eyed and whistful remembering when in the 90s he was finally able to play with the big boys and get "venture capital"...the video was to make us feel good about wholefoods history and direction...this was around the time of the first t.v. commercials...remember that vegan libertarians can also harbor deep seated desires to be amongst the country club elites who control...all that talk about autonomy ,liberty, and vegan freedoms has a price and ol rahodeb got bought...and here we are with the carcass...the "deep dive" carcass of expendable employees and big data of amazon.....
