Everyone here is panicking because of the uncertainty of what will happen next and how they will be affected. This is understandable, especially given Broadcom's reputation when it comes to acquisitions. When I read some of these threads, it seems as if no one wants to be part of the company after the acquisition is finalized, and on the other hand, it is impossible that there is no one who would like to keep their job and be part of Broadcom?

" Its Work. But it sure isn't harder than Iraq. I think I'll be ok."
As a vet with 8 years active and several deployments as well, you can take this mentality and shove it up your fifth point of contact. We went through he-l so that the rest of our fellow citizens didn't have to. Nor should we expect them to and then mock them if they feel discomfort. Too much of the military fetishize "the suck" as if its a requirement to being relevant. But then they act surprised when 22+ of us off our selves each day and share some BS post on FB about caring about your brothers/sister in arms. There is absolutely nothing wrong with enjoying the place you work, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with rejecting a company whos offerings don't fall in line with your expectations. A lot of us working at VMware have the background and credentials to command that type of consideration. The whole attitude of resting on your laurels because at least somewhere else is worse is just an extremely lazy way of viewing the world.
You talk about profitability and being able to provide for your family. Were you somehow unable to do that with the current VMware? Seems to me like a vast majority of our colleagues are well compensated and happy. Our customers are pretty much happy with 90%+ renewal rates in my sector and they are nearly as high across the company. Our year over year revenues and profit margins continue to rise. And this was bad? According to who? We were not a dying company, far from it.
As you were.
I'm just hoping some of the bu-----t stops with all the fluff. We don't need 20 guys on an account for security and networking to sell one product.
Broadcom is a bit of fresh air because the CEO Hock Tan understands how to run a company and make money but at the same time he values Engineers who are deemed critical and the compensation is extremely high, at the same time, corporate black holes like Sales and Marketing and having too many managers are severely cut.
The reason that so many people are here wanting to jump ship is because there could not have been a bigger clash in corporate cultures than what we have here. One - VMware - with a huge emphasis on people and how they are treated. The other where people seem to be seen as a metric. My experience at VMware is that a lot of people here worked for companies like Broadcom in the past and were super happy to work for VMware since it was such a nice change. Most do not want to go back to working at a company like Broadcom.
Don't forget that many of you could go on a temporary transition role with a firm termination date at the end as well as a sweet transition bonus on top of your normal pay (and of course your normal VMware severance). I'm assuming many of you will continue to WFH during that period.
That term date will allow you to prepare your next job months before departing.
Unless you have a magical dream offer just wait and see how things play out.
I am looking for a job, I don't think I can work with Broadcom even if they offer me a job. The market is good now and take advantage of it before it changes. I am watching next 40 days, if someone else who has better credentials then BC shows up, I will try to stick otherwise I have no loyalty.
Everyone should keep in mind that at the end of the day it's you and your family that matters.
I don't pay attention to Raghu or Summit because these guys will make millions out of the deal.
I'm out
Bunch smart as--s responding here.
Broadcom will load you up with RSUs and APB.
RSUs vest every 3 months. It’s rad.
Once VMware is fully absorbed the AVGO stock will 🚀
But leave cause you won’t get free pizza…
Actually, Broadcom having such a drastically different culture makes it so much easier to achieve their targets of drastically reducing headcount by resignation. Brilliant move Tan
"Yeah.... ever worked at a place like that with that kind of environment? I have and did so for years. It sucks."
I dont know. I did 8 years active duty mil, then 10 years reserve with a deployment to Iraq.
I've been at 9 different companies over my career. People here are snowflakes that thing Broadcom is he-l, and Hock Tan is devil.
Well if so he is a devil that runs a company profitably for 17 years and way more effectively than we do. I want my family and community to be close to be and care for me. I want a profitable business to work for so I can provide for my family and community. Its Work. But it sure isnt harder than Iraq. I think I'll be ok.
"These folks all panicking maybe need to get lost. I for one wont mind Broadcom."
Yeah.... ever worked at a place like that with that kind of environment? I have and did so for years. It sucks. Been there. Done that. Not doing it again. None of you who have not had to deal with that kind of company don't know how good you've had it at VMware.
Leaving. Too much uncertainty which is expected.
I can imagine the toxic environment that VMware will quickly become the next few months thanks to all the BS'ers and the 'standard' performers who don't have anywhere else to go. These won't want to leave without putting a fight and will go to extremes to look as 'critical' in front of the transition tiger team or gain indulgence with the VPs who will be making the calls.
I'm sure my talent can get me a great position somewhere else without going through such drama.
Nop. Not staying
I'm an acqui-hire, and while I like VMware well enough, I liked my job better before it was at VMware. I kinda get the impression that working at Broadcom would be a change even further away from the place that hired me. Bigger, more impersonal, and my role even more of an afterthought. Could be just the excuse to leave that I didn't realize I was looking for.
Staying if not Riffed. It ain't over unless it is over.
These folks all panicking maybe need to get lost. I for one wont mind Broadcom.
Yeah, I'm staying.
I'd gladly keep my job post Broadcom
