Thread regarding Ford layoffs

Layoffs are abusive

How many more OEM engineers have to be laid off before people admit that this is an abusive industry? You have to look beyond the launches and at the many layoffs, not just in the plants but also those either canned because they weren’t fast enough or worse, headed to tier 3 suppliers.

Many that are bred for management never get the chance and are disposed of for one reason or another. This is no “sport” but a travesty inflicted on innocent engineers to entertain a few people at the top. Those who claim to love engineers need to look behind the curtain. We as a society can stop this madness, because it is us who keep tier 3 suppliers full for former OEM engineers, hauling these innocent beings to their horrific career ending. There are many other ways that upper management can find to be entertained.

@2der+1h1ZydvY... just like new professors in college, when someone gets a promo to a new LL, they sometimes have to prove how tough and smart they are. meaning: they are the smartest one in the room (according to themselves). good luck to you if you get a newly promoted LL. you'll need it.

Agree with the last poster, though a fairly new LL4 in EC is not just a sociopath, but a psychopath.

@2dqp+1h1ZydvY Most managers are not sociopaths, but some Ford managers truly are.
They survive because good people have a difficult time seeing the truth until it is too late. Count your blessings if you haven’t run into these gems at Ford. Maybe don’t gaslight the unfortunate who got stuck under one of the sociopaths.

Managers are no sociopaths who lauyoff workers to inflict abuse or entertain themselves. They are about costs savings (greed?).

They suck but they are not part of some plot by mean people to hurt your feelings. OP, you need to grow up

LOL you all crack me up. I grew up in Michigan the auto industry has always had its cycles of mass layoffs and mass hirings. I don't understand the whining here like its a surprise when a engineer gets laid off like an engineer will never find another job he or she will. The hourly production workers are the least skilled so they will have the hardest time finding a job with same or better pay before an engineer does.

We are in a recession folks its not official but what do you think happens when you force everyone to stay home, go unemployed and pay them to sit. Inflation and Recessions go hand in hand welcome to he-l brought to you by the Federal Bank, The federal Government, certain State Governments, and the Fearful and illogical that supported it all.
