I work for staff counsel. We’ve been notified that in some cities they are already busy with a pilot program automating answers and possibly discovery responses. Thereby, automating many of us out of a job. my question is this: if another large RIF is not expected, and instead they move people to other open positions, do you get a pay cut if they move you into a position that pays less? How do they decide where to put you if they decide to give you that option rather than laying off and paying severance? Thanks in advance.

Which office are piloting this?
So I'd imagine if they relocate you it's same pay as I have seen that in the past in my dept. I've seen band 4s relocate to band 3 position involuntarily because position ended and still got band 4 pay
If you stay within the same band you keep the same pay. When subro was moved to EXL we had to apply and interview for positions. We were not just placed in a position.
I don't know how to say this in a nice way, but if my job were at threat of being automated (or my employer thought it could be), I'd be polishing up the resume.
