Thread regarding Allstate Corp. layoffs

Don't wait for severance

I know many who hoped and still hope to be paid to leave. However, it seems to me that there will be no severance pay here for a long time? For now, Allstate has found a way to get rid of employees without giving them a package. No sense in wasting time here waiting for that.

I too would not think about staying for severance. In recent town hall for our area it was asked if there were reduction in force plans since our area is deemed overstaffed. The answer was the company will utilize our talents in other areas such as claims and ATSC instead of laying us off. Asked if these moves would be voluntary we got a quick "no".

In my state, it's currently taking 3 weeks for an initial unemployment claim to be processed

But there's also mention of a one week "waiting period" - so I'm not really sure whether or not I'll get paid for my first week being unemployed

So if you foresee a potential layoff, it's a good idea to have 4 weeks of pay set aside to carry you through this time... & that's assuming that you'll be approved for unemployment... & that's just looking at your first month off

Not to scare you, but to inform you - in case you've never had to file for unemployment before - it's a lot to take in if you're a first-timer

Don't forget the setting you up to fail with impossible metrics leading towards your for cause termination or the halving of occurrences needed for termination in only one year. All this among other things are how they drop the axe without having to pony up for severance and unemployment.

Yep, now they are shifting people to different less desirable departments and breaking them to quit instead of just offering packages. And it is working somewhat. There will certainly be severance to a point but much much less likely than it was in 2020. The company lost their as--s on the severance payouts and the double dippers that got unemployment too in some states.

Last time I checked severance was still in the employee handbook. If they change policies they need to let the folks know, or could this be another shell and pea tactic of these Chicago crooks.

Nice try brainwasher. That is the hope of the c suite. At this point most oldie moldies ain’t going anywhere without sumpin. They know that as India ramps up , it’s just a matter of time before liability and casualty adjusters are downsized stateside. Y’all already did it to auto. It’s the natural progression of transformative growth to off load the rest off shore. Big wigs just hope the conditions will be so bad the old will leave so they can stop gap them with young. That will surely fill the void before India is full on ready to take over. Do the math and follow the numbers. We ain’t that d-mb. Give us our package now. Do another personality diversity test or whatever and let the next wave happen. We want our severance and our unemployment. Y’all ain’t gonna get out of it easily.
