Let's be realistic, people. After the pandemic-related cuts and now RTO-related attrition, I don't know one team or area that is not severely understaffed. There is literally nobody left to lay off without compromising productivity. These are just facts. Unless we have leadership that is stupid enough to not see this, I don't think layoffs will be happening any time soon.

Agree to Path 3. There is no shortage of ppl in my team but they just don’t want to work. As I am new to the team, don’t have much say and have to agree to do there work. Literally doing twice work but all the appreciation is for the old folks. Really feeling demotivated. I feel it’s a crime to be good at ur work and finish it on time here. And the thing that makes me angry is these lazy folks taking months to complete work and asking me to be efficient and complete it in few hours . Getting lectures on efficiency by these Jokers.
I hear you on that…unfortunately this is widespread and from the domino effect.
Domino effect triggered by leadership & poor planning. As the dominoes fall they split off down multiple paths.
Path 1: One trail of downfall are people like you doing work of others who are looking to offload work that they inherited resulting from reorgs, attrition, resulting into work never transitioning.
Why is this happening?
Because many positions are not backfilled due to cost cutting or simply because MetLife cannot fill positions.
Dominoes are falling fast now….People are largely aware that leadership are not transparent about this and knowingly making empty promises to keep overworked on the line for as long as they can. So they look to unload onto others.
Path 2: Another trail of domino downfall of unloaded work are from people who are engaged in politics….leaders literally playing games using workforce as chess pieces…not working together & refusing to play nice in the sandbox. Leaders allocating people to show up but not really contribute. This happens because leaders own bad decision making has left them understaffed but also because some leaders are trying to make land grab moves by sinking ships of peer leaders plans by not providing proper reinforcements (resources).
Path 3: Snd yet another trail of dominos falling due to people who are simply not working. Taking advantage of others; justifying this behavior by seniority, years of service or because they are checked out, uncooperative as they wait for their jobs to be outsourced.
It truly is a mess. The worst I have ever seen. Majority of Leadership needs to be replaced. Current mindset does not work with vision and strategy.
Agree with below par employees .. bunch of lazy ppl who don’t want to work and push everything on others..fed up of doing others work when I struggle and put in extra time to complete all my work before deadline. Learnt hard !! No more fast paced work .. go with the others flow
I'll bring my "Work Self". My "Whole Self" is my personal business!
Get out of my personal business!
dont know about your area, but I have seen many in the EC
You are right - layoffs won’t happen right away but eventually will & when they build up their off shore teams some more…just take a look in the company directory….I saw someone post about 2-3 years and that seems right. You are foolish not to see this coming. Pretending is not going to help anyone.
Productivity is already compromised on a daily basis with below par technology and below par employees. But let's call it experimentation and bring your whole self to work, and all is right in the world.
