Belks shady business practices, mistreatment of employees, lack of living wage pay, and the list goes on...is finally taking a toll on Belk, employee retention is at an all time low, and stores can’t fill positions ranging from part time to managers. People have just had enough, and they are not going to work for a company that does not value its associates.

At our store the manager takes a lot of vacations while the store is falling apart. The managers left in charge are at each others throats. Or they run everyones business around the store. And god forbid if you make a joke about something. Next thing you know the bossy, pushy associate is making judgemental comments when we are on break. And the worst of all is the part time mod that gets in a huddle with his crew and spreads rumours around, yet he acts like he is there for you as a manager when he is really just wants fodder for the huddle. But the main concern is still are the hours being used, credits, emails, apps. I could write a book about how bad our store is. I wish they would just hurry up and close it. And to @2gxn. Of course the managers is keeping information confidential. It is always whats best for the numbers. The only thing I can say is be careful what you say and do because karma will get you. Especially to the young cute kid that everybody babies It won't be like that forever. I am taking my own advice because I don't like who I have become working for belk. And I can't wait to be out of that store.
does the store manager let the STM's and HR see the true number of hours the store is getting or are they keeping this "confidential'? if they are keeping it confidential, they are not looking out for the best interest of the store and associates.
the rvp and store manager just want to make a bonus. the hour usage has nothing to do with making the store better in any way, shape or form. they have to show hours are used or not used to make their bonus. it's all about lining their own pockets, that's it.
We have a store manager who declines PTO but takes it for herself. She also does not work nights & weekends, great example for the store workers.
Working for belk has been my worst job experience to date. The level of uncaring for the associates is unbelievable. The way they run it from the top down is toxic and the people that have worked there for a long time are just about brain washed. And the scary thing is that I am changing as a person. I recently experienced two devastating losses and I didn't even say anything or try to get any time off. Our rvp's only concern is using the the hours even if the associates are run into the ground. Unfortunately it is my own fault for being stupid enough to stay there. But not for long. I am getting out!
