4 years and you still come on this site??? Epitome of the word pathetic. You must be the life of the party.

@3noq+1gvJ65Xo It’s why I left because 4 yrs ago it was crystal clear to me that movement was not possible. I’d either be stuck in that job, told what my new job would be or ushered out the door. I’m sorry this is happening to you but actively looking is the best thing you can do. And if you’ve been a mover there are skills that are tremendously valuable outside the company. Highlight that yearning to learn and make sure you scrub your resume of any and all xerox isms. And in time this will all be a distant memory.

I am an employee who always wants to learn and do more, seeking out further opportunity. However, what do you do when your immediate mgr tells you its not your interest to seek out more. How about being stuck in a position because your mgt team will not fight for you or your mgr is too afraid to ask upper mgt for a job code or salary change on your behalf. I am actively looking to jump to a new fresh boat, not this continuous sinking one. Hopefully will be saying buh-bye soon - can not wait for the day!!

I've always acquired new skills and responsibilities to keep myself relevant. There are always opportunities to do so at Xerox and if you don't, that's on you. At least half the people get settled into their job and don't seek out anything that requires change.

If you don't have transferable skills, that's your fault.

This post is true but applies to the people at xerox who have been working there for 25+ years in the same job, acting clueless and taking zero initiative (aka that’s not my job). I personally have encountered many of them and have to shake my head when I hear they’ve been doing the same job for more than 5 years. What’s in it for you? How are you growing or challenging yourself? It’s astounding.

On the other hand, there are plenty of people who have switched jobs within the company and gained skills along the way. Those individuals no matter how many years with xerox will land somewhere. I know. I was one who kept moving into different divisions (8 different jobs in 21 yrs) and I landed in a great external situation because I wouldn’t sit still and when I got bored I moved into something that I could learn from. For those of you like me. Your skills are absolutely transferable.

Anyone who has put in at least a moderate level of effort has acquired skills that are extensible beyond xerox. Team problem solving, interactive skills, managing tasks through people, time management, critical thinking, at least. You may have to peel some of the xerox specific glazing to recognize it. Don't sell yourselves short.
